Nisten 15
I call myself searching through the guides and the General/Windows forum section but I wasn't seeing a guide/tutorial for updating Emby when you're running it as a Windows service. Updating Emby when you're running it as a program or from the tray/dock seems straightforward Updating Emby as a Windows Service doesn't appear as straightforward. So is there a guide or makeshift instructions at all for updating Emby when running it as a Windows Service? Solution Luke 37022 Posted July 26, 2017 Solution Share Posted July 26, 2017 You'll find lots of workaround here in the community, but we recommend doing exactly what it says in the emby server dashboard when an update is available. shutdown the service, then manually install from the website. this will initially launch the tray icon, which is what we want in case any user interaction is required. Once startup is complete you can then shut that down and restart the service.

FrostByte 5044
Basically, as Luke mentioned if you want to do it manually: 1. Stop the service 2. Run the appropriate setup 3. Exit the app in the tray 4. Restart the service Hatharry has made a very good PS script which can do all that for you Edited July 26, 2017 by FrostByte
