Limiting Mbps globaly / Forcing maximum 10 mbps globaly

limit limiting force forcing mbps upload

I forgot to mention, that it actualy is about external users. I've setup a server on a remote server, configuring it through vpn and making it available through internet for me and family. So... still, want to limit the maximum bandwidth for all users to a maximum of 10 mbps @ 1080p. When I setup this option under "streaming", this is more kind of a "standard setting" and not a "maximum setting". While users then start to stream a 1080p at 10 mbps, they are still allowed to setup a higher mbps themselfes... what I certainly dont want due to performance issues when more then 1 account is streaming.

There needs to be a way to globaly force this maximum mbps in order to make this multiuser experience acceptable for me and family though.

thanks

Soki

Yeah, that's not possible at the moment, though there is a pretty popular feature request that looks to have legs:  https://emby.media/c...-rate-per-user/

Hey there,

my first post in here ... so ... hi community ^^

I am just starting to learn about all the features and setup of this nice software so maybe I am just blind and didnt see this option yet.

I'd like to limit the the mbps globaly for all accounts on my emby server. I found an option under "streaming" and limited it to 10 mbps.

When I login with a test account without any admin rights, this account can still setup the option to more then 10 mbps while playing

a video. Am I doing anything wrong here? Are there any ways to globaly force a maximum mbps?

Thanks in advance

Soki

The option to limit bitrate under "Streaming" is for external users.  If you logged into your test account on your local network, it doesn't apply.  I'm also not certain whether the limit you set is actually reflected in the players bitrate selection menu... but the server does honor the limit.
