JPindur 0 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Got a Lifetime subscription for xmas, was excited to get away from the annoying WMC interface and ads for the much nicer looking Theater for Windows. I searched and don't see any other topics about this. Electron crashes, after a few seconds windows offers to kill it, then emby crashes. Then I restart Theater. I can't see a pattern. Doesn't seem to be related to what's playing. 2 hours with nothing, 2 crashes in 20 minutes, once it was 2 seconds into it, but usually its mid show. One time chrome crashed afterwards. Rare to watch 2 things in a row without a crash. Nothing else running on the Win 7 PC, only emby, teamviewer, chrome, remote (LM/firefly). No security SW. How can i debug/gather logs? Thanks!
Luke 38842 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Hi, welcome. Is there an error message? Is there anything in Windows event viewer?
JPindur 0 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Sorry for the delay, the forum doesn't auto follow your own posts I guess? I put 9 events from my log file in a google doc, most are different. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NBeGeuOviGStJhkSah_N36f-UAPp3yU_O-NY33T9oGA/edit?usp=sharing I've since uninstalled emby server and emby for WMC, but neither were running before, but it seemed stable yesterday with little use. partially examples: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 12/29/2016 10:34:30 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Media-PC Description: Faulting application name: electron.exe, version: 1.4.11.0, time stamp: 0x58475d17 Faulting module name: electron.exe, version: 1.4.11.0, time stamp: 0x58475d17 Exception code: 0x80000003 Fault offset: 0x0000000000346c3d Faulting process id: 0x12f4 Faulting application start time: 0x01d262357d662c4e Faulting application path: C:\Users\Media\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system\x64\electron\electron.exe Log Name: Application Source: Application Hang Date: 12/29/2016 7:41:38 PM Event ID: 1002 Task Category: (101) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Media-PC Description: The program electron.exe version 1.4.11.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. JPindur 0 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 After uninstalling Emby WMC and Emby Server, I haven't seen the crashes. It's been a few days without one now. I'll reply if they come back, thanks.
JPindur 0 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 When I was testing out the emby server I had initially installed it on this playback PC, viewing with EmbyWMC. Later I moved emby server to a different PC, but didn't uninstall the server, I believe I disabled it. Crashes started on the playback PC when I installed Theater. The only change to stop the electron crashes was uninstalling the disabled Emby Server and Emby WMC, then a restart. I had restarted a few times after Theater was installed, so I don't think that's related.
