Magliok Fireborne 1
So I have a pretty big library of movies, however, when I try to search for movies I'm having a horrible time. So for example I have the movies Red and Red 2, and Redemption. However when I search for Red neither Red or Red 2 show up. Redemption, Actors, TV shows show up that have " ...red..." in the name somewhere, but Red and Red 2 do not show. If I type "Red 2" that will show, however I cannot find Red. If I just show all movies and go to R's -- both are there, so I know they are indexed. I checked the meta info and everything is correct, looks like every other movie auto-detected by Emby. What gives??? Search is useless this way for me.. Version: 3.0.5972.0 Edited June 7, 2016 by Magliok Fireborne
Happy2Play 8296
The limitations of the search return, it is limited to 30 result. See request here
pir8radio 1292
huh weird, I just did the same search for RED, all of my music stuff with RED in the name came up but not red or red 2.. search for red 2 and it shows. I understand the limited to 30 results thing. I would love to have the search restricted to the library you are in (movies, music, blah), but if that is too hard for the team to implement I could also deal with SEARCH OPERATORS.. Like "red" (" ") would only return items that have the exact word RED in them, not redemption.. OR BETTER YET! Some kind of keyword like the library name, movies:red or music:metallica to only return results from those libraries... I actually like option two better, keywords to search within specific libraries... vote this puppy up! Edited June 8, 2016 by pir8radio
Guy 7
Brought this up in other related topics and in one of them it was said more search/filtering options were planned (back in November 2014). Nothing has been added or improved since to the search feature. These issues still persist (no pagination or specific search queries loading). http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27794-30-item-limit-on-search-no-pagination/http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/6740-serverweb-client-additional-search-criteria-supporthttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12284-searching-metadata-for-tags-etc/ Edited June 8, 2016 by Guy
Pais 115
If you want a temporary solution you can edit the limit for the requestSearchHintsForOverlay function in search.js which is in System\dashboard-ui\scripts. Note that your performance may decrease, but at least you can find your stuff now. function requestSearchHintsForOverlay(elem, searchTerm) { var currentTimeout = searchHintTimeout; Dashboard.showLoadingMsg(); ApiClient.getSearchHints({ userId: Dashboard.getCurrentUserId(), searchTerm: (searchTerm || '').trim(), limit: 30 }).then(function (result) { if (currentTimeout == searchHintTimeout) { renderSearchResultsInOverlay(elem, result.SearchHints); } Dashboard.hideLoadingMsg(); }, function () { Dashboard.hideLoadingMsg(); }); }
Magliok Fireborne 1
Unfortunately I currently run Emby in a Docker container (on Unraid) and there is no way for me to get to the files running in that docker, except for the config's.

I own now Emby lifetime and Plex. And I love Emby and it's features, but with something as simple as search not working -- where Plex rocks on this, I find it becoming harder and harder to stick with Emby.
