This, so much this! Todays critics have started to make me believe they are actually just paid marketing shills with how they score movies and shows. Audience score tend to more reliably reflect what i think as well.

A setting in Emby to change between Audience and critic score or both would be great.

But Emby only get this info from OMDB and they do not provide Audience.

I meant if rotten tomatoes was to be implemented. :)

I actually thought IMDb was audience based.

IMDB/TMDB community rating is a user system.  Can't remember the reasoning why RT is not used directly but know of multiple media managers that stopped using them directly.

The point we have is the Critics Rating for RT is often terrible, while their audience rating is a better predictor of shows and movies most people will enjoy.

A toggle, would be terrific. Thanks!

Emby currently displays ratings from Rotten Tomatoes.  It only allows display of the Critics rating, not the Audience ratings.

IMDB is a completely separate system from Rotten Tomatoes.  🙂

Sorry nothing comes from Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB directly.  Both actually come from the OMDB plugin.

Thank you. I assume that plugin could be modified?   The first posts in this thread say the audience ratings can be accessed.

Yes, back then they were a source, but their requirements to use their api changed and were dropped as a source (don't know details).

So, we indirectly get info from OMDB.

Correct per the example I posted above.

[{"Source":"Internet Movie Database","Value":"8.0/10"},{"Source":"Rotten Tomatoes","Value":"83%"},{"Source":"Metacritic","Value":"74/100"}]

Thx H2P.   So the omdb plugin does not have the RT audience rating currently?

Is there any other way to obtain the RT audience rating?  Perhaps we can request omdb add the audience rating??

I see Emby is a major sponsor.  I believe they would be receptive to your suggestion.

i appreciate you explaining all this.

Google shows they use to but now appears they don't as adding the &tomatoes=true to the query return N/A, but in the end this conversation would have to be done with them as I have no idea how they obtain the info they do have.

With the legal request they got back then, and they don't directly get the info I don't see it happening per the link above.

Here's why the Rotten Tomatoes ratings are returning "N/A":

After becoming all too familiar with Amazon (who owns IMDb) and Fandango's legal team on a regular basis, I've been looking into other options for returning movie ratings. With this proposed change, I would act merely as a conduit and relay an unmodified response from other service providers which is protected under the 512(a) "safe harbor" of the DMCA.

Same as IMDb - cost.

In addition to this topic, is there any possibility / feature that the imdb score is synchronised periodically? Now the rating that is shown is often very different with the actual current score it seems.

If OMDB even does periodic updates as nothing comes from IMDB, but there is a feature request here for that.

Use it where, as we have no way of getting Audience Rating.

Or are you saying replace Fresh with that new badge?  But at the same time these badge at the size they will be presented in would be useless.

May want to look at adding Certified though but don't know the issue with trademarked icons.

What if, in the settings we could select if we want critic or audience score for RT? I personally trust the audience score and do not care about the critics at all. Thanks for your time!
