Swynol 375
Anyone seen the new NowTV box's? they are re-branded Roku 3's for £14.99 - Ethernet port, 1080p, bargain. http://www.nowtv.com/box#ib-section-section-
CBers 6771
Yes, they are based on the new Roku 2 devices, not the Roku 3 as many people thought they would be. I believe side-loading is still possible and accessed the same way as the original Now TV box. tova 0
Does anyone know if there's an emby sideloadable plugin for the new NowTV box? Links from 2013/2014 do not work. The emby.roku plugin at github does not work either. There's no way of getting xbmc onto the NowTV box (afaik) and Plex's insistence on browsing by libraries - limited in size (or Plex stumbles) and with wrong metadata left and right - is driving me nuts. tova 0
ah ok roku 2. damn no bluetooth remote! side loading works, the plex crew have confirmed that I think you were right first time - or Sky is lying to us. Go to Settings - System - About. You'll see: Model - 4200SK - Roku 3 (a cut-down version) Edited August 17, 2015 by tova

tova 0
I have no idea how to run something from source code - I'd be too afraid of bricking the box. Within the emby.roku zip there's a smaller zip. Tried both - neither work. I really just want someone to tell me whether or not there's an emby sideloadable app for NowTV or one in development? I do not have the computer skills for anything more advanced than sideloading the app to the box. Chasing dead links from two year old posts does not help. CBers 6771
Yes there is.Just follow the instructions:http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/689-how-to-install-media-browser-on-now-tvThe post may be 2 Years old, but still functional. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Roku/raw/master/Emby.Roku.zipThe current version is v2.10.. tova 0
Dude, sideloading the zip/app isn't the problem. I had the emby.roku zip/app from Github at 10 this morning. It's getting it to install - that's the problem. Roku DIA: The zip you point to and which I've already tried three times today: Result: Now when I see words in red like - failure - invaild - no manifest - it tells me the zip/app will not install. Stick a fork in me because I'm done. I'll keep Plex. It's as frustrating as hell, but at least the bloody thing installs.
Luke 37064
That's not the right zip. Sounds like you clicked a button in github instead of downloading the zip that is highlighted in the instructions. The zip in the instructions installs just fine. Luke 37064
Ok. Here is the right zip https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Roku/raw/master/Emby.Roku.zip
tova 0
The link in the instructions? This one: It doesn't work either. What a complete waste of time. Has anyone from here actually tried installing that zip in the new NowTv box - the cut-down Roku 3?
tova 0
Ok. Here is the right zip https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Roku/raw/master/Emby.Roku.zip Worked first time - thank you. Those old posts and links - still happily trotted out until an hour or so ago - really need to be looked at, because they sent me in circles. Luke 37064
Yes, we have a lot of users here running Now TV.
tova 0
Excellent. It was in in no time at all. No more need for bespoke Plex libraries with their too strict naming conventions (God, I grew to hate Plex). I can now browse across my entire music and movies collection. Thank you, Luke, for taking the trouble to find the right zip.

tova 0
Always glad to help! Words fail me! Try to help people and all you get is snide comments! Really? Words fail you? Dude, in spite of telling you it was not the sideloading issue but the zip/app simply not working, you kept pointing me to the wrong zips. Perhaps you thought I was too dimwitted to quite follow? You expect thanks for that? You were absolutely no help to me at all. But I do have manners. Luke was very helpful. That's why I thanked him and not you. CBers 6771
Yes, I may have supplied the incorrect zip file, but you were also given the link and told to follow "How to Run from Source Code". As Luke said, "Sounds like you clicked a button in github instead of downloading the zip that is highlighted in the instructions". Still, you seem to be sorted now. csjjpm 5
I sideloaded the client on the new Now TV 2 box and it doesn't save the server address or credentials. Anyone else have this problem?
speechles 1917
If you already have this marked yes, you may need to toggle it, no then back to yes again. After that it should remember the user. I've had to do this before occasionally. speechles 1917
That's interesting because I have one and the emby dashboard picks it up as a Roku3? Thats because hardware wise, the box itself, _is_ based on the roku3. It also will support full 1080p streams with 5.1 surround. It is just sky is only broadcasting at a max of 720p. Other apps streaming from other sources should get 1080p quality. You have a much better platform with the new sky nowtv.
