Cache location question

I run my media on a readynas nv+, and due to the server software not currently being compatible for this server, I am running the server on my laptop.

I currently have my cache in the default location, but was wondering if I would see any performance improvement by moving the cache to the readynas

More likely to see performance degradation by moving it off the local device and onto a network.  Also open up the possibility of it not being available due to network errors.
