moviesandtv56 3 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I'm getting a 'this site can't be reached' when I click on the configure button after installing the emby app on my wester digital ex2ultra install. Tried is on different browsers and after clearing cash, cookies, same result. I can see the NAS on windows explorer, the app installed, moved files to the NAS without issue. Everything is inside my network so should not be any firewall issues. I lost a drive so this is a reinstallation but I don't think that should matter. Help is appreciated. Thanks.
Luke 39008 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi there, are you sure Emby Server is running? Can you try rebooting the NAS and then start Emby Server?
moviesandtv56 3 Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 I did that a few times, restarted the server, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the emby software. How can I be certain the emby server is running?
moviesandtv56 3 Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 From my research on this, if I go to the http://192.168.50.134:8096 address and the config web site does not come up that means that the emby server is not running. Since I installed the software without issue and clicked on the config button, I'm not certain why it would not be running.
Luke 39008 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Have you tried rebooting your NAS? Is any server log file created? Emby Server Data Folder
moviesandtv56 3 Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 from the article, emby server location on WD NAS is /mnt/HD/HD_a2/emby, I see three folders on my NAS, movies, tv shows, and music. This is a view from windows explorer. I don't see anything that looks like that directory.

Here are some instructions on how to do that: @sa2000may also have some tips on this. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
sa2000 293 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 @moviesandtv56Let me know if you need any further help.
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 I have not yet tried the solution provided, hope to get to it today. 1
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Downloaded WinSCP https://winscp.net/eng/index.php easy to install, for wester digital ex2ultra you have to activate SSH in the network settings and then set up password is required, make certain you turn off SSH when you are finished with whatever you have to do. The directory /mnt/HD/HD_a2/emby is there but empty, not certain if that is correct or not.

It should not be empty. Can you see the binary files in this path: /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/embyserver Can you see what is in the file and the file date/timestamp (last written to date/time). It should have installs/uninstalls /tmp/embyserver.log Have you installed the right package ? there is an OS3 one and OS5 install download Edited February 4 by sa2000

moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 don't know to what OS3 or OS5 refers @sa2000
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 can't see /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/embyserver, can see embyserver.log, let me know if anything else is needed. thanks
sa2000 293 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) 1 hour ago, moviesandtv56 said: don't know to what OS3 or OS5 refers There are two Emby Server downloads for the WD EXT2 Ultra - one is for WD OS version 3 and one is for WD OS version 5 - I expect yours to be on OS 5 as OS 3 was superseded sometime back When you login to the WD Dashboard, you should be able to see the Firmware version - OS 5 would be Firmware versions starting with 5.xx.xxx On the Download page - here there are two sets of downloads for Western Digital The OS5 package for the WD EX2 Ultra is "emby-server-western_digital_ex2_ultra_os5_4.8.10.0_arm.bin" The OS3 package for the WD EX2 Ultra is "emby-server-western_digital_ex2_ultra_4.8.10.0_arm.bin" Check that you are downloading the right one for your install Edited February 4 by sa2000

moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 I thought we were supposed to DM server logs for security reasons?
sa2000 293 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Just now, moviesandtv56 said: thought we were supposed to DM server logs for security reasons Only raw embyserver log files - ones not downloaded through the Emby Web interface - but in your case there was no emby server log files and the the one I mentioned in /tmp is just a log of installs / uninstalls - do you see any log lines in it that has passwords / public IP address ? should not be Have you established which download package you used and which firmware version runs on the NAS?
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 emby-server-western_digital_ex2_ultra_os5_4.8.10.0_arm.bin correct version installed
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 firmware is version 5.29.102, WD site says that's current
sa2000 293 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Interesting - appears to be under "/mnt/HD/HD_b2/" and not "/mnt/HD/HD_a2/" - don't know if that is specific to some WD NAS'es or some different setup on your NAS You can copy out the logs folder from /mnt/HD/HD_b2/emby/logs and zip and send me by private message
moviesandtv56 3 Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 I think this may have something to do with how I set up the drives, let me do some work with that on my end and see if it helps, I'll be back in touch, thanks for your help 2
