are probably referencing the /mnt/HD/HD_a2 path

the NAS from Western Digital was bad, sent it back, they sent me new one, up and running, all good.  thanks for your help..........I backed up my history of last played and the sort order, the director it created was embyserver-backup-full.  I looked all over the forums and could not find a how to restore this, the directions for how to back up are excellent, but the info on how to restore I could not figure out, might have been looking in the wrong area.  thanks.

I will look into the documentation and screen content when doing a restore. I will summarize what we have currently and would appreciate your input as to which areas need improving

The current documentation we have on this support doc: Backing Up Emby Server

and for restores

When you go through the screens to do a restore, you have a number of options: 

- Restore from Backup which gives you 2 options: restore from last full backup or restore only the databases from a specific databases only backup

- extract user data from the last backup

When selecting Restore from Backup, you get the dropdown to either select the last full backup or a databases only backup

and the dropdown gives you databases only backups to choose from

and when you select the full backup, you have an option to use a new server identifier or keep the existing one and some information on next action 

If instead you go for the Extract Data from Backup, you get the option to specify specific users to restore

when you click on network on the bottom of the list you get a list of ip addresses and they don't use the mask name that is used with windows explorer or similar programs.  so you have to guess which IP address is your laptop, nas, or other location.  when my main nas went down i used an old nas for backup on my network that is password protected.  when I click on the nas ip and directory where the backup is located, I don't get a login request, it just sits there. when you change directories the network button at the bottom goes away and you can't click on it any more until you get back to the directory where it shows up at the bottom.  suggestion would be to move the network button location outside of the list of directories and use something similar to windows explorer that shows the mask names of the locations on the network.  I can move the backup director to a location that does not require login, such as on the new nas where I have put the movies, but the movies are being moved right now and that's supposed to take five hours more or so, then I have to move the tv shows, about 1.5 gb.

what I mostly want is the sort order that I put into place for the 700 movies, things like all of the james bond movies grouped together.  it would be nice to have the history of when the movies were last watched, we use that quite a bit.

seems to be the best move would be to load the movies, tv shows, then restore the backup of the sort order and last time watched info if that's possible.

I have a new NAS from WD, uploaded movies and tv shows into separate directories, installed emby.  Movies were running fine, now they are stopping and wont start, spin at 13% and 33%.  Main screen movies is now blank on roku and windows pc.  When I click on Movies it's empty, there are 700 and change in the directory.   Restarted everything, Emby server would not start from http://192.168.x.x:8096/ roku or pc.  Soooo, I uninstalled and reinstalled emby server.  Back to the place where there is nothing in the movies button from the main menu.  Strange enough the TV Shows button shows pictures of shows but there are no shows when you click on the button.  Seems like a need to rebuild the emby server from scratch without it seeing the old install.  It seems to be picking that up when I reinstall.  Is there a way to tell the reinstall to not look for the old instance?  Thanks.

HI, to make a fresh start you'll need to delete the server data folder:

wonder why that happened, anyway, new install complete, scanning files, will take some time

Everything is working fine, two things I've noticed with this version or maybe it's my install:

- the quality of the stream 480 / 720 / 1080, etc. all say 480.  it seems that the movies play the level that they are, the ones that are 480 look like 480 and the ones that are 1080 look like they are 1080, etc. 

- the movie logo that is on the main menu does not have screen shots from movies, it's blank.  the tv show one shows screen shots from several tv shows. 

neither are a big deal and don't make a difference in the operational abilities, happy to have emby server back up and running.  thanks for all of your help.

Thanks for the feedback. For any new issues raise separate forum tiopic with details of the issue and giving specifc examples with times and screenshots and server logs 

PS - I am still waiting fot some screenshots to try and understand what improvements you were suggesting for the documentation for the restore
