cnstarz 26 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Hello Devs, hope all is well with you. I have an issue where (most of the time) I have to go to Favorites and then back to the home screen for it to refresh, or I have to hold the back button down while on an episode or movie's page to force it return home and refresh. Is this by design? Can the design be changed so that it refreshes every time we access the home page, or refreshes the homepage in the background every time we stop watching media? IMO, it's not user-friendly to force users to update the home page to see accurate data. Thank you for all the work and attention you put into this product. It will be a very sad for me if it ever goes away! 1
Luke 38860 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks. 2
ebr 15439 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Hi. Can you provide a specific example? The app is designed to keep the home screen up to date.
justinrh 206 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 I've reported this issue before, just so you know you are not alone @cnstarz

The specific example is I watch any movie or any TV episode -- either in part or whole -- and the home screen does not update when I return to the home screen. I have to manually refresh it by going to my Favorites and then back to the home screen. Force closing the app temporarily resolves the problem, but it always comes back within a day. I will try this and report back later. The problem usually resolves temporarily whenever force closing the app or rebooting the Shield, so I'll have to test this out for a couple days to see if the problem persists. 1
Spaceboy 2561 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 same but i can't use the standard app because it doesnt allow for skipping of in progress recordings. this only started in the last few weeks so i imagine it was the recent ATV release that is the culprit

Spaceboy 2561 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 sent 23.40 UK time, username Mark. The home screen is still frozen from the breakfast tv 15hours ago

Also, exactly where did you initiate playback from? sorry didnt explain that well. the live tv row was still showing the programming from when it was on in the morning. i would have been watching a live tv channel in that example initiated from the home screen on now row, into detail, play channel. i have seen the same with local files too though. episodes that have been watched do not update in the continue watching row

Can't see a detail screen but I do see a next up and live TV recordings row getting refreshed.

Spaceboy 2561 Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 havent been able to replicate so far - even with live tv. weird as it was happening consistently. possible the update of the app to 2.1.14 in the last couple of days has changed something?

justinrh 206 Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 It is rather random for me. Will work perfectly this day, not the next day, I can delete 3 movies (over a 1-20min window) and they won't disappear from recent until 10min later or have to close the app, etc.

Was watching Resident Alien S03E07 initiated from the continue watching row and after i backed out to the home screen the row did not update. i reenetered S03E07 and it showed watched at that level. i sent you the logs, went back and checked it had still not updated. only other thing that may have relevance is i dismissed the next episode notification by pressing back.
ebr 15439 Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Thanks for the log. I think it is a weird timing issue which is why you are not seeing it consistently.

casminkey 17 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Is this still an open issue because I see this all the time on my Chromecast for Google TV? I'll watch a TV Show, go back to the home screen and the show that I just watched is still in the Continue Watching section - not the next episode. I generally have to keep hitting Back to exit the app, then re-open. My wife will frequently watch something on Emby and just hit the Home button on the remote when done, or turn the TV off. If a few days pass and new shows/movies are added to Emby, when I re-open the app it's where she left it. If i hit back to get to the Emby home screen, it doesn't refresh - any new shows or movies that have been added are not there, Continue Watching doesn't update. I also have a Sony TV with Google TV built in and I don't seem to have this issue on that TV. If there was a way I could restart the Chromecast nightly, I feel that would solve 90% of my issue as it would force Emby to refresh when it's opened rather than constantly stay powered on and the Emby app stays idle in the background. My Sony TV shuts the entire OS down when the TV is powered off. I can get logs if needed. Edited June 13, 2024 by casminkey
