I've got a Raspberry PI 5 running the latest Raspberry PI OS (2024.03)

I tried using the [generic linux](https://emby.media/emby-theater-linux.html#deb) install steps.  There are no errors reported, and a shortcut is registered in the application launcher; however, when I try using it, nothing happens.  No window, no error message, nothing in journalctl.  I tried invoking from /usr/bin, and the only message is "Segmentation fault"

I've generally known segmentation fault to be mismatched architectures, so I tried the 32 bit OS variant and observed the same experience as with the preferred (default) aarch64 build

I've tried a few other distros; was able to get things working with Ubuntu, but it feels sluggish.  Also tried DietPi, LibreELEC, and Volumio, but all had various deficits

The RPI OS is super snappy and functional and I'd love to see Emby Theater work there

Any ideas for things to try?

I just wanted to say I tried this back in March and found the same issue.

I am currently running Emby on Android TV 14 which is working well; however, I would much rather go back to the Raspbian OS as I am way more familiar with that than Android

Thanks for your efforts

Hi, have you tried the latest version?

I tried with 3.0.16

I just checked and 3.0.21 seems to have dropped since I last tried. I will try later today and report back!

Thanks

Just tried with 3.0.21 on freshly installed and updated Raspbian.

Same error with Segmentation-Fault

Did you try the dedicated RPI5 package?

What exactly do you mean? Connect what exactly?

Got to a text wizard asking for root password, username and such.

Then it detected the SSID of my available WiFi networks, I selected and typed the passphrase. The system would take about 30-45 seconds and just ask for passphrase again

I tried a few times, certain it wasn't a fat finger mistake but nothing

The main goal would be to have a couple more things running on this pi other than emby theater, so I did not push more here thinking it would be best to go with the os install and then emby as a app.

I'm away from home now but can try again with the image when I get back home Tuesday if that helps

Hi, yes that would be great. Thanks !

Ok got to give it a quick try and can confirm the image does work. I can get it to connect to wifi, start an Emby Theater instance and connect to my server.

There are a handful of caveats but most of them minor, I expect I should be able to address them in time:

- cannot disable navigation sound (couldn't find a setting for it)

- emby theater does not run in full screen (top bar is always visible)

- no media keys are recognized (volume is the big one as the playback keys are rather easy to access just by navigating)

I have this installed on a separate SD card so I can tinker with it later on while having a fully functional experience in an Android box. Once I attempt to address the small issues and install the rest of the apps I'd like to have in this box I will report back here
