Ok i am going to try and explain it again , im not sure why its not coming across properly :) .... all i was trying to do is get a continue watching like in emby ( in progress movies- in progress episodes and next up ( continue a tv show ))

image.thumb.png.3e475f65419b69215fed45ce888a3a30.png

so in the above screenshot in emby

300 - continue watching movie

evil - continue watching episode

rick and morty - next episode

i accomplished this in kodi by using the skin variable feature  in the Arctic Fuse skin.

when i added in progress movies , in progress TV shows and in-progress episodes - it worked except in-progress TV Shows would take me to the library instead of playing the next episode.

i changed in-progress tv shows to next episode and then everything worked

this is the screenshot from kodi ---there are no in-progress indicators on the thumbs but it does work properly

Kodi_20231202_131551.thumb.png.2673849c5177bbe50d3d89d00238a71f.png

300 - continue watching movie

evil - continue watching episode

rick and morty - next episode

thanks

looking forward to trying it in 9, would be much easier then using kodi to do it

The continue watching node on Emby server doesn't seem to integrate in progress TVshows.

It seems to integrate in progress episodes, movies and musicvideos. Is this what you want?

so if i watch episode 1of a tv show  fully ...doesn't episode 2 then go into continue watching (in progress tv shows) ?

this is where i am confused ( don't know if its the wording or what i am misunderstanding )

That would be the next up node, not sure if continue watching acts the same way.

In Progress TV-shows means at least one episode of a show are unwatched.

An in progress nodes, for  episodes doesn't care if the show is fully watched. It just focus on a single episode.

so the perfect node for me would be

next up node , in -progress movies and in-progress episodes

I can do that, but you know -> in-progress episodes and next-up may result in doubles. They needs to be filtered.

next-up selects by unwatched, but a an episode can be both. unwatched and in-progress.

Ok thanks ...looking forward to try it out :)

i was having issues with doubles in kodi as well

Will you be able to select which nodes you want to use inside the combined node? I rarley need the in-progress episodes

I have a Shield and use kodi with the emby next gen addon. My server is remote and I have no local access to it. Is there a way to display the chapter images? When I use the native emby app on the shield, chapter images are displayed.

Need a bit of help.  On Emby for Kodi Next Gen 8.2.14 and streaming a ~2mbps movie (via Direct Play for all streams) from Emby Server 4.7.14.0.  Server is seeing 96 requests *per second* in the server log and the Emby Server is reading the disk at over 150MB/sec.  When I pause the playback the log spam and disk hammering stop.  Any idea what the *hell* is going on?  Here are a few of the log entries, of which there are millions.

Thanks in advance.

It's downloading the file in small pieces at a time. This is normal and a lot of video players work like that. However if you are using a reverse proxy and it is not properly configured for range requests, then you could be causing the player to do more work than necessary.

No proxy in play, this is on a LAN with direct network between the kodi player and the Emby server.  Any idea why its using such small ranges or some kind of corrupt default?

Not sure. You may want to try comparing to let's say an mp4 in Chrome with the web app.

Tested web app with an mp3 and no hammering.  Streaming a different movie now, same plugin/kodi/system/direct play everything but different file and its not hammering.  Here is the mediainfo dump of the offending file:

Here is the mediainfo of the file that is playing nicely without hammering.  Random guess but could the low bitrate of the other file be read by the plugin, then divided by some value to yield a network request size that is ridiculously small?  Perhaps there should be a hard coded sane lower limit if that's the case?

Need a bit of help.  On Emby for Kodi Next Gen 8.2.14 and streaming a ~2mbps movie (via Direct Play for all streams) from Emby Server 4.7.14.0.  Server is seeing 96 requests *per second* in the server log and the Emby Server is reading the disk at over 150MB/sec.  When I pause the playback the log spam and disk hammering stop.  Any idea what the *hell* is going on?  Here are a few of the log entries, of which there are millions.

Thanks in advance.

Seems Kodi is doing that (not the plugin). Did you run a test with a stock Kodi installation (only e4k plugin installed).?

. You can send me a (Kodi) debug log for review. Send it via PM, don't post it here in public. Debug log may have confidential information included.

Hi Quickmic,

I'm using Kodi latest beta (21.0) on an AndroidTV (Sony) and the plugin is 8.2.15.

I was playing something, but after 15 minutes about I did not exit Kodi but power off the TV.

Few hours later, power back the TV and immediately it start playing where I left it (That was great).

But when the show end, it did not mark it has completed, but instead like if it was stopped in the middle of it. (In the Kodi)

On the server itself it looks like is was mark has completed like it should!

I'm going to message you the logs!

I had a similar bug like this in a previous version (which I don't recall) but you fix it, now looks to be the same!

Thanks,

Joel

I'll check that. I hope I can reproduce the issue. Could be a Kodi or plugin issue. Both is possible at this point.

Was it "EPISODE EIGHT"?

Enable path substitution.

After I activated path substitution, the chapter thumbnails work. However, no new movies are synchronized.

Should not be related to path substitution at all. Can you run a test and send me a kodi.log after you added content. The log must include the sync process.

Hello experts,

I have a big stutter issue using  Emby for Kodi Nextgen 8.2.15  +  KODI 20.2  on an Android 10 box  (not mine but from my ISP, based on S905X2, can handle 1080p or 4K easily).

Emby Server is 4.8.0.61 beta  (on beta channel for months)  on a Synology NAS 218+,  Gigabit ethernet, same network.

Note:  It's a new Emby/KODI install on the Android box  (before, all was perfectly working it was the exact same Emby server on the NAS, but another box using EmbyForKodi (old) on CoreELEC, which died..).

I have the KODI log at the moment i tested a video file, plus the Emby Server logs  (should i upload them ?).

I also tried to change settings in KODI + in Emby Nextgen addon  ( Hardware acceleration on/off,  Adjust Display Refresh Rate "start/stop" / "always",  HQ scalers for scaling above 20% / 0% ... ).

All audio is on Passthrough  (receiver is a DENON X2800H).

I even tried database reset / factory reset before.

Thanks a lot,  i don't understand what's happening.

It looks like it's working now. I still had an older addon version installed. with 8.2.15 it seems to work now.
