TheGroovyMule 1 Posted October 15, 2023 Share Posted October 15, 2023 1 hour ago, TheGroovyMule said: Emby Server version: 4.7.14.0 I've experienced the same issue with a Chromecast with Google TV 4K. This is casting directly from my android phone (Emby for Android 3.3.32) without the Emby for Android TV app installed on my Chromecast. Basically playback will start and continue without issue but any attempt to skip or fast-forward results in a frozen video image at the new timestamp, and the audio continuing to play. I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread but I did find a trigger for the issue. When I play the same files without CC, the skipping and scrubbing through works without issue. But when I turn it on, then I have playback issues again. All examples were using mkv files. I can upload logs but is there a way to send them to the devs as opposed to posting them in the forums Just to note, it does seem to direct back to without CC, it's direct play With CC, I get Stream - Converting subtitles directly into video Video - Burning in Subtitles Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I guess the issue appears whenever ffmpeg gets involved. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mangoo 1 Posted December 1, 2023 Share Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) I also see the same "video freezes when seeking while playing to a Chromecast device". It only affects some videos, but I don't know what causes the issue (codec? resolution?). I use Chromecast 4K connected over HDMI cable to a Samsung TV which supports HD resolution (1920 x 1080). Did anyone come up with ffmpeg convert/transcode option which would guarantee the video plays well on a Chromecast device and seek/rewind can be used? I have Emby premiere, even if I transcode the videos in Emby, it doesn't fix the issue for all videos. Edited December 1, 2023 by mangoo 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Arthessia 6 Posted February 26 Share Posted February 26 (edited) I'm facing a similar issue (well... not directly me, my brother ) he is trying to chromecast using a google chromecast 4K, and randomly the image & sound is completely freezing. He is obliged to restart the cast (on emby app on his phone) to make it working again (until the next crash...). We tested on Jellyfin and we are not able to reproduce that issue on same file casted using Jellyfin, only Emby is facing the issue. here is the only issue I see: 17:08:07.892 [segment @ 0x271e580] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E_s4.m3u8.tmp' for writing 17:08:07.893 SegmentComplete=video:1 Index=2609 Start=7827.194375 End=7829.905417 Duration=2.711042 offset_pts=0 start_pts=7827194375 Frames=70 filename=43C11E_s4_2609.vtt 17:08:07.893 [segment @ 0x271e580] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E_s4_2610.vtt.tmp' for writing 17:08:07.894 [segment @ 0x271e580] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E_s4.m3u8.tmp' for writing 17:08:07.894 SegmentComplete=video:1 Index=2610 Start=7830.113958 End=7832.991833 Duration=2.877875 offset_pts=0 start_pts=7830113958 Frames=74 filename=43C11E_s4_2610.vtt 17:08:07.894 [segment @ 0x271e580] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E_s4_2611.vtt.tmp' for writing 17:08:07.906 subtitle_kickoff: resend - pts: 7833617 17:08:07.906 subtitle_kickoff: call subtitle_resend_current 7833627 frame->format: 3 17:08:08.526 [segment @ 0x2335400] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E.m3u8.tmp' for writing 17:08:08.527 SegmentComplete=video:0 Index=2610 Start=7830.447411 End=7833.450411 Duration=3.003000 offset_pts=0 start_pts=7830447411 Frames=72 filename=43C11E_2610.ts 17:08:08.527 [segment @ 0x2335400] Opening '/config/transcoding-temp/43C11E/43C11E_2611.ts.tmp' for writing 17:08:08.791 Too many packets buffered for output stream 1:1. 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] frame I:139 Avg QP:16.85 size: 56408 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] frame P:3133 Avg QP:19.96 size: 9672 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] frame B:6679 Avg QP:22.71 size: 1483 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] consecutive B-frames: 7.0% 8.3% 6.7% 78.0% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] mb I I16..4: 29.9% 49.9% 20.2% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] mb P I16..4: 15.5% 0.0% 0.0% P16..4: 27.2% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% skip:57.2% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] mb B I16..4: 1.2% 0.0% 0.0% B16..8: 7.9% 0.0% 0.0% direct: 1.6% skip:89.3% L0:39.0% L1:53.9% BI: 7.1% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] 8x8 transform intra:9.8% inter:62.6% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] coded y,uvDC,uvAC intra: 23.1% 28.3% 3.1% inter: 2.6% 3.3% 0.0% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] i16 v,h,dc,p: 43% 25% 14% 18% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] i8 v,h,dc,ddl,ddr,vr,hd,vl,hu: 18% 17% 19% 9% 8% 7% 7% 7% 9% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] i4 v,h,dc,ddl,ddr,vr,hd,vl,hu: 19% 19% 10% 12% 8% 7% 8% 7% 10% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] i8c dc,h,v,p: 58% 19% 19% 4% 17:08:08.827 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] Weighted P-Frames: Y:2.6% UV:1.4% 17:08:08.828 [libx264 @ 0x2336a80] kb/s:926.23 17:08:08.862 Conversion failed! 17:08:08.862 EXIT Edited February 26 by Arthessia Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
