TheFujin 2
Hi, I have a question regarding the integration of Emby and Google TV "services". Should Emby work with my GoogleTV homescreen? I have noticed some differences between AndroidTV and GoogleTV, mainly the disappearance of the "Watch on Emby" button for shows listen on my GoogleTV home screen. I friend of mine has an older Sony TV with Android TV which does provide this functionality. It seems this has changed in GoogleTV using more cloud like features, providing support for Netflix and Disney+, but Emby is not listed. To be clear, this functionality has never worked on this GoogleTV TV, I have been using Emby on it for about a year. The Emby app itself works fine, the problem is regarding the homescreen of the TV, not the homescreen inside of the Emby app. Is this something that should be working? TV: Sony Bravia XR-55X90J Emby: Currently running the latest Beta server, and latest stable client (downloaded through the appstore)
ebr 14862
Hi. Yes, it does appear their new interface removed the "Play Next" channel and replaced it with a more targeted suggestion row - emphasizing their partners. I have not found out if it is even possible for us to be in there yet.
henryford 11
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but it's the only one I found regarding this topic. I noticed that Plex has this ability, and would love for Emby to be able to do this as well. Not sure if this is technically feasible/doable though? Hi, with Google TV it is a cloud based feature and not something that would be possible to make dynamic for each individual Emby Server.

tattler 30
I resolved this issue by disabling the default GoogleTV launcher and installed Projectivity Launcher as a replacement: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.projengmenu&hl=en&gl=US. Once it is installed, I followed the instructions below to disable GoogleTV launcer and make the 3-rd party launcher as the default homescreen: Disable default launcher: # Disable com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx which is the default launcher on CCwGTV adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx # com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith will then be used as a 'fallback' and will automatically # re-enable the default launcher, so disable it as well adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith Re-enable default launcher: adb shell pm enable com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx adb shell pm enable com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith The 3rd party launcher is clean, has more configuration options (no ADS!) and you can add Emby to the home screen for your Play Next movies/series. There is however a catch here if you also want to populate the thumbnails. CcwGTv does not allow http communication inside the LAN. So your Emby instance MUST be running in https mode with a valid domain name AND certificate inside your LAN. That means: you log in to your https Emby domain name (eg. https://myemby.examplecom). After logging in all Emby thumbnails should show on the home screen. My solution for running Emby in https mode inside my LAN is using Pi-Hole to map the domain name to my local server's ip address. Then I registered the domain name with CloudFlare (or any domain services as you wish) and pointed it to 0.0.0.0 so that it is not being proxied by CloudFlare. Then use Synology as reverse proxy to map to the https domain name and point it to my local Emby server. I am using Chromecast with GoogleTV Ultra 4K. It works like a charm: Edited February 24 by tattler 1
