If the box is unchecked and the system will ignore it than this is function as the developers wrote it

Existing information cannot be ignored as custom and provider collections are created fromt the same node.  The library option just prevents adding the info from metadata providers.  So if it exists you had it enabled at some point in time.

But the UI multi-select every collection and delete would be the fastest way to remove collections and clear the node from item metadata.

But as Grim mentioned were exact library conditions used?

Do you write nfo files, yes or no?

Do both versions use nfo reader, yes or no?

Without all the information on both server setups it is impossible to say and will guess the setups are not configured the same.

Please just answer the questions.

If they are not answered, your new server install might have the same issue.

Naw I figured It out.

Emby doesn't respect choices made when adding libraries.

Sorry but how does one reproduce your issue?

You still have not provided the requested nfo proof.

Even if there were NFO files.

Telling Emby SPECIFICALLY not to create collections should be sufficent.

If emby will do what ever it wants regardless of the option being selected or not then the option should be removed

Please supply proof.

Other wise we will keep running in circles.

Your metadata created collections not specifically the setting.

Read the setting as your metadata must already have them.

Quote

Import collection information from metadata downloaders

When enabled, this will import collection information from your enabled metadata downloaders. This may cause unwanted collections to be automatically created. Disabling will prevent future collections from being automatically created, but will not delete existing ones.

Yep as it may likely be user error all along.

Hi.  Please read the description of that option.  It does not govern the creation of collections.  It only governs whether or not collection information will be imported from tmdb.

Collections are shown if the metadata is there to indicate them.

Hi, this is not true if there is no nfo file. It doesn't work this way. If you think you saw something different, then we're happy to help:

Thanks.

If the Library is empty, then you can sort of hack the library to remove it.

Shut down Emby "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\root\default\Collections" path will be platform dependent

delete the options.xml or the entire Collection folder

Restart Emby, go to Setting-Library, now the Collection library should be Mixed Content type and have the option to Delete/Remove the library.

Assuming no collections exist, the library will not regenerate.

Hi, does this solution still work? I suffer the same problem but I there is no 'root' folder in 'programdata', I try to use 'everything' to search options.xml and Collections folder, but couldn't find any in emby related folder. Any ideas?

That is because as of 4.8 /root is no longer written and the information only resides in the database.

Assuming you have no Collections you would/could delete the library via the api.

Covered in this How To as it was recreated to add the library back as it was removed for a while but their is info to get the id and remove at that bottom of the topic.

Thanks to the quick and helpful response, it finally disappeared. Have a nice day!
