Fair enough. Knowing what I now know about custom parental guidance ratings helps. I am one who favors granular control, so being able to restrict people from viewing certain content in an easy way is what I'm after. It seems that tagging those items might be my best option. So in that case, what is the easiest way to tag media in Emby in bulk?

Hisense Roku TV.. video freezes but audio keeps playing. A remote user said that a few movies & tv shows the video will freeze but audio keeps play. Tried to duplicate so I could if its emby, video file or device. Unable to duplicate on the roku tv or any other devices. Asked anther remote user if this has happened.; it has not. Not what to fix but anyone else hear of this from ANY roku devices?? Since they are unable to duplciate the issue and when they play the file again it plays with no issues..so I feel video file is NOT the issue. Would love to pull a log but unable to duplicate

If they are enabling DRM, they have obviously decided to not allow recording on anything but their supported/approved devices, ergo Emby can not, and more than likely will not support it as they are not supported or approved. The fact that new devices have to built and even then there is no guarantee should be a clear notification of that. It will more than likely be a year or more before hardware is released that supports this, and at that point you'll probably need to wait longer for PC cards that will support it, IF they decide to allow PC support.

I updated the server again to 4.8.5.0_x86_64.qpkg and then went to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata and downloaded the log file from there. I didn't find any entries about version 4.8.5.0. Maybe I need to uninstall the previous version of the server first? embyserver.txt

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply and thanks at all. I ripped the tracks of my CD/DTS in wav and I can play the ripped tracks with VLC (in the PC) and with Emby in my TV and A/V amplifer. The problem is that in the A/V Yamaha don't switches the DTS decoder on, but its remain in analogic function. I read in Emby the information of the wav files and the files seem to be in DTS.

With a chapter per episode? With separate art, descriptions, and even pages for each chapter? That is unnecessary. Chapters in audiobooks don't have separately published artwork, and often don't have any more description than "Chapter 1". If you had a summary blurb on each chapter, it would be spoilery and you would have to write it yourself, unless you populated it from a Cliff's Notes type website on the book, which would be even more spoilery and is definitely not available for most novels so would be a waste. I don't think the comparison matches up. About the only comparison that would fit is the ability for Emby to remember what chapter you last listened to, and where you are in the current chapter. But that is a barebones requirement for any proper audiobook player.

Just read about the Zappiti out of business stories and feel for you and others and their loss. Some spent $4000 on hardware and service in the beginning of 2023 and they now own a boat anchor what an expensive education. You didn't mention your server hardware nor your playback hardware and your operating systems. If you want more help post your topology as well as your hardware / software setup.

I am running an Emby server on my QNAP NAS and paid for that with a life time license. Have an additional server on my Intel NUC PC which is covered by the license. Since the Devs here have done a marvelous job for decades and actively monitor this forum, I reward them for that with purchasing a license. Now that this is out of the way lets go on to the clients. When the Zappiti software was free I ran it on a Dune device for a few years and it was decent, but when they went to their own hardware and no longer made the software available plus closed down the support forum I left. The Emby browser client is free and I only use it for maintenance and for the arrangement of my content as well as the library layouts. I run Emby clients on my Windows laptop, my Roku Ultra, my Galaxy tablet and my Google TV device. All of them perform to my satisfaction and the eye candy is excellent. However the best layout for my liking and content detail plus feedback is through the Windows Media Center (WMC) client and the Throgmorton themes. Having said that this is now a dead end as WMC plus the Throgmorton themes are no longer maintained, developed and the latest Emby servers no longer support WMC. In my personal experience I have found that with my weekly viewing routines the clients that are developed and maintained by Emby are excellent and more then enough because of their pleasing nature. I haven't turned on my Intel NUC and the best eye candy display in over a year. The streaming devices I have plus the provided clients from Emby are excellent in their ease of use, navigation, their organization and display of details. However for these clients you need a license and the Devs absolutely deserve this since this has been their baby for decades ever since I started to support them when Emby was known as Media Browser.

Maybe with a bunch of really fast SSDs.

Hi. The issue there is that would be ambiguous. An item can belong to multiple collections and playlists so there is no way to derive access control from that structure. An item could be in one collection that is blocked and another that is allowed. So, I'm just trying to provide a way to get to what you really want within the system. Thanks.

Well, looks like issue re-appeared with Downloaded items (IOS, IpadOS) and Android TV client. Track art is fine, but Album art is sporadically missing. Re-tagging/re-scanning, did not help in this case... Embyserver.txt

Let me tweak my response. I think being able to give users specific access to collections or playlists would be helpful to me. If the Devs or others disagree, please disregard.

The Custom Rating field is used for parental controls only. So if you enter a Custom Rating on an item that is what will be used to compare to the max rating you set for access control.

Agreed, which is why we have the Custom Rating field. If your real issue is easier bulk metadata editing, then that is a different issue.

Hello! Whenever I try to play a high-bitrate file on my device, the playback doesn't want to start. If I just randomly jump to any point in the movie, it starts buffering and stuttering the playback. I thought this was a bandwidth-issue, since I am on WiFi, but when I disable the automatic transcoding in the options for the user, the file plays perfectly. So I thought, okay the problem is the transcoding. But why does Emby try to transcode the file if it plays without transcoding just fine? I thought transcoding only activates when it's needed, but if the file plays fine with transcoding disabled, why does Emby think it needs to do that? I can't just disable transcoding, because when I'm away from home, I sometimes watch stuff as well and then I need the transcoding feature. Thank you for your help!

Ok, maybe I don't understand the custom rating then. Are you saying that if I enter a custom rating, then filter by rating or create a playlist by rating, that Emby will look at my custom rating and ignore the default rating? If so, that would be excellent

Hi. You don't have to do that. Just fill in the custom rating on the outliers...

I'm not saying your suggestion won't work. But I am saying that it is much more complicated to rate EVERY piece of media I have just to fix a few outliers, than it is to just fix a few outliers and then use the default parental guidance ratings otherwise.
