Directplay significantly darker (incorrect) than transcode (correct)

Well shoot, it looks like you might be correct but you are also right that it is not ideal to toggle of the hardware acceleration. I will leave it off for now and see what happens, thanks for engaging.

Video ads coming to Roku TVs

They will be coming. Roku also has a patent on injecting ads into any HDMI stream connected to their devices. If you don't have a pi-hole, this is your warning that they are now necessary.

    Conversions que

Hi, I've noticed that when a conversion is running on a library, the list of converted items repeats. It also doesn't show what item is currently being converted. Is this behavior to be expected?

    Library folders

I am doing a fresh installation of Emby server and I don't understand why some library folders are not generated. Is there any way to force it or know why this happens? The installed server version is 4.8.5.0
  6. Thanks. I was just looking on the Kodi.Wiki page and there's Embuary (Matrix) in the Omega V21 repo (which Kodi obviously doesn't like). I suppose someone could update the addon.xml and upload it to the repo? Any idea on how to do this? I think this would solve everyone's problems

    Setting up a new server

I was desperate to fix this asap so asked chatgpt lol and this is what I got - mkdir -p /mydownloads/completed chown -R emby:emby /mydownloads/completed running those commands and then selecting /mydownloads/completed as my library path has resolved my issue. But thanks for the insight. I will read up those articles and learn more about permissions and ownershipts.
  8. I have the same issue, and it did work at some point. Did you happen to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 (6.8.x kernel)? If so, I believe it's related to this post as well. I think the version of OpenCL that Emby uses doesn't detect Intel Arc cards with the new kernel. Attached are my logs as well. ffmpeg-transcode-d1842273-f7f4-4a7c-8293-80ab91df4166_1.txt
  9. Omega uses gui version 5.17. I would just leave it at that.

emby server crashing and restart solution

Necro thread or not? OP never followed up and it's been more than a few years. I'm having this issue presently and it seems "maybe" I should uninstall and reinstall because it started after the Emby executable got foobar'd. I recently updated my media pc from a much older i5-4th to an i9-14th, and as annoying as it is, the Intel 14th is a power hungry hot running PO_. Memory manufacturers of DDR5 are meh, and the MOBO company has released 12 BIOS updates in 5 months, 9 of which are "stability" related. And to top it all off, I figured "why not get the latest Samsung M.2?" I went Samsung 990 Pro 2TB Gen 4) and they too have hardware issues where the drive corrupts itself to the point it is not salvageable (allegedly). Anyways... I reinstalled Emby on top of the existing install, and all the users work, the mounts work, the plugins work, all looks good... for less than 24 hours. Suddenly the server is no longer responsive on the web port (even locally), and if I "restart" it from the taskbar icon (I'm on Win 11 Pro), it wont work still. But if I exit it, then manually releaunch it, it works again.... for about 24 hours. The last chunk of log data says: 2024-05-01 01:11:59.231 Info Server: http/1.1 POST https://‌WWW.WEBSERVER.COM‌/emby/Sessions/Playing/Progress?X-Emby-Client=Emby for Apple TV&X-Emby-Device-Name=Apple TV&X-Emby-Device-Id=123456789-SOME-ID-123456789&X-Emby-Client-Version=1.8.8 (2)&X-Emby-Token=‌123456789-SOME-ID-123456789‌&reqformat=json. Just curious if there is some advanced debugger I can run?

  12. HI, yes that's a good idea. Thanks for the feedback.
  13. Hi, there is nothing like this, but older versions of the server may have done the opposite - darkening while a menu was open and then removing that layer once closed.
  14. Hi, yes it makes sense. The context menu on an extra should have play all from here, no?

    embyforkodi (next-gen) 10.X.X support

A quick note. this 10.0.19 still doesn't keep track of strm files with a plugin source. The version that you sent me in the PM still works.
  19. Considering Kodi's just released the Omega V21.0, would I have to update the addons.xml line to 5.21.0? Or anything above 5.17.0 will do? I left my TV on and Google thought it was an opportune time to update all my apps (I forgot to switch off auto-update when I factory reset the TV a few months back from the last time Kodi sh!t the bed)
  20. Hello, As shown in the attached picture, when there are lots of missing episodes, the Missing Episodes Table view in the Metadata Manager can become quite tedious to use. I think this issue can be solved by adding an option to "Group by series" (In the attached image, I've mocked up one potential place to put the option.)

A few css bits mostly from other people

I'm pretty sure this is not possible but I'll ask any way. I'm changing all my posters to custom images. Right now you have to click through 3 or 4 menus to upload an image of a movie poster. Is there a way to decrease that or add an upload option to the 3 dots menu?

memory leak in library scans since 7.8

    okay here's a debug log attached I didn't want to let the scan eat up all available RAM and start causing drive thrashing again so I let it run for 20 minutes with the debug log running and then cancelled the scan I monitored the memory usage during this time in the Synology process monitor, here's how much RAM Emby was using for each minute since the server started, and the % of the library scan progress. as you can see the RAM usage just goes up and up for the entire duration of the library scan, upon cancelling the scan the RAM is freed up again and Emby returns to ~200mb usage server start 200mb 01:00 10% 320mb 02:00 11% 430mb 03:00 11% 640mb 04:00 12% 820mb 05:00 13% 960mb 06:00 14% 1.06gb 07:00 15% 1.18gb 08:00 17% 1.32gb 09:00 18% 1.45gb 10:00 20% 1.59gb 11:00 21% 1.71gb 12:00 22% 1.82gb 13:00 23% 1.93gb 14:00 24% 2.08gb 15:00 26% 2.24gb 16:00 26% 2.36gb 17:00 27% 2.48gb 18:00 27% 2.56gb 19:00 28% 2.67gb 20:00 29% 2.78gb embyserver debug.txt
  23. I'm running emby server in docker. The problem I am going to describe occurs on Google TV, Android phone, and web clients (both Chrome and Firefox on Ubuntu Linux). If I play a recording straight through, there is no problem with SRT subtitles. However, if I move around in the recording (for example, moving ahead via the chapters menu), the subtitles are playing for some different part of the video. The subtitles are behind the video, but not as if the subtitles has continued linearly without a jump. I first noticed this with the comskipper plugin (which does seeks to skip commercials), but I have reproduced it without EDL files. The problem does not occur when viewing embedded EIA 608 subtitles. Here are some server logs. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-c4444341-19bf-43c7-aa16-665b6bb3afcb_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-e3d96537-5614-4db8-b58c-816c55cc95d7_1.txt

    ASS subtitle problem

It is a solution that would take a lot of time and work when there are many series and many chapters... As in Plex there are never problems with ASS subtitles or any other type of subtitle, it plays all of them On the other hand, Emby cannot do the same...
  25. Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening? It's on Windows, at first I thought maybe my machine was updating and restarting which would need my password to actually start windows and then start emby, but that's not it. Every day or two, I'll go to watch something and it won't work because the server isn't running. The computer hasn't restarted (I have emby as a startup app anyway), all other programs are still running fine. Of the files below, 355 is apparently when it was running. At some point after that, it shut down. 450 is when I manually restarted it. Thanks for any help embyserver355.txt hardware_detection450.txt

    Rethink Audiobooks

I complain a lot, but truthfully I'm exasperated as I've been asking the Emby devs for audiobook support since October 2017, which is four years before Audiobookshelf ever existed. So when a dev here says "Why do you think it doesn't work well?" that just hits home how they never used it for that before. Making separate feature requests for individual improvements at this stage is like picking what color paint to use on a house with no electrical wiring or plumbing. Sure, it works as a shelter but it doesn't have the necessary amenities. If the person building it never actually uses it enough to notice what's missing, there's no way they can know what people who do use it actually want. Plain and simple, audiobook functionality on Emby is ugly and barebones for a lot of reasons, and it won't improve until the devs actually use it to listen to audiobooks. Meanwhile:
  27. @Luke3.3.86 update still hasn't fixed it in case you want to know. Also, any chance to get a setting which puts the device at max brightness automatically when opening an image?
