Differentiate between external subtitles - embedded subtitles- opensubtitles subs
m7abrr replied to m7abrr's topic in Feature Requests
Open subtitles subs are identical to External subtitles why? because as I said someone would just spam download subtitles from opensubtitles and all have same format and most are unsync and confuse me and other users on server because they and I would think it’s externally added and should be synced so at least differentiate opensubtitle ones as it’s on Plex -

That is not correct, embedded SubRip files are named as such, i.e. Eng (SUBRIP), while external SubRip files are named according their extension, srt, i.e. Eng (SRT) - so you can easily tell at a glance what subs are embedded and what are external ones. OpenSubtitles is just an online provider (one of several), that has nothing to do with sub format, don't see why that would warrant special/separate category/type. -
Noticing a few annoying issues with Emby lately
Bambu Utila replied to Bambu Utila's topic in General/Windows
I did some more testing and it seems that the problem is browser related for me. I've tried both in edge and chrome and from different computers on the local network. All the same result. I then installed the Emby client app from the windows store and everything works fine there. skipping goes smoothly, and resuming takes less than 10sec. I would prefer not to have to install an extra app, but this is for sure a viable solution for now. - Today

imnotsane started following VOD playback issues

Moved to a new IPTV service, but running into issues with playback. From what I see and AI saying it maybe a header issue, any assistance would be appreciated. More information on what I'm seeing is I'm able to play some Movies fine, while others fail. I found that I was able to play one of the videos on my Phone (android) using the playback correction a couple times, but same the steps didn't work for other Movies. I've done some testing with the user playback settings and transcoding, but still running into the same issue. I've verified the movies work fine in other players as well. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-28d5c043-b033-494e-a3c5-4aac7a4f98de_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-5637bf63-2870-4556-90d8-affc3423042d_1.txt

Hello This is a simple request but efficient in emby there’s no different names of subtitles regarding their format or location. all ( external subtitles- embedded subtitles-subtitles add through UI from opensubtitle) has the same name format for example: English (SRT) I know you can tell through “edit subtitle” button but it’s extra step not needed I wish that names be like: English (SRT) > For embedded English (SRT)(External) > for external sub English (SRT)(Opensubtitles) > For Opensubtitle Why it’s important? Because sometimes someone in my server add multiple subtitles through opensubtitle and all have same format and confusing I know I can disable this but I don’t want to, I hope you can just differentiate on the name itself rather than checking every time on edit subtitle option. -

Thumbnails periodically get reset, only seems to happen with WEBM files
billcw replied to billcw's topic in Linux
Perhaps webm attachments should be ignored by Emby if they are unsupported, but they work reliably for me. (I assume Emby just treats webm files as mkv, as many players seem to, since it also allows things like multiple audio tracks, which is clearly not allowed.) However, I'm guessing that you would find that a lot of people are using webm thumbnails if you decided to ignore them. Only the case where Emby has two options: both an external png image and a webm attachment, at the same time, doesn't work and perhaps the right fix for that is just documentation. From the outside, it seems like the ideal solution would be that Emby just ignores any other thumbnail options if an external image file exists. -
Hi all! i'm not a coder, but I was wondering if it might be possible for Emby to create something simple like a docker container that we could run on another machine or in the cloud. So that when users on like android Emby app try to connect to my server while it's offline, their Emby app taking the custom downtime message from there? Or redirected to that container, which would just display a custom message instead of the default, server offline/down or what it now says. Or maybe just Emby could let us add 2 lines of custom text we can apply before server goes down that appears when the server is down? 2 rows of text explaining why and how long it might take to be back? I assume Emby has servers for connect, so maybe this could be doable? I don’t really know how it all works at all, just curious! Alternatively, is it possible for me to run a copy of my Emby server on another machine using the same user config files, and just create a single library with an image or video that shows some kind of info message? That way, users would at least see something instead of getting an error. Or would the Android app recognize it's a different server and not connect at all? Is it possible to redirect users who are watching in the browser to another site or display a message when the site is down? I honestly have no idea, I’m just thinking out loud! My English isn’t very good, so I got some help from ai lol. Thanks!

Did you do the "sudo -i" for privilege mode? Why not delete the folder rm -r EmbyServer - will delete EmbyServer and all contents If you prefer a gui and use Windows then see the link H2P posted for WinSCP.

The music note characters in the android app for subtitles have not worked for quite some time, I think they may have worked at one point but I can't recall. Might have broken after a font change. -
UI unresponsive and no subtitles for some files on Apple TV
Serwyn replied to Serwyn's topic in Apple TV
Hi! Here it is, the same file first read on the web interface, then on apple TV. Thanks! embyserver.txt -
The logic is simple - look up in first fetcher and add info from others. If IMDB id is provided, that's another thing for the chosen supplier to look up - that's all. But really, there's no universal magic solution. What you need to do is (1) find the movie/show manually in TMDB or TVDB (2) name and organise the files to match how the chosen supplier sees it (3) identify the movie/show in Emby with the relevant provider in first place (4) lock the metadata if you are having to keep changing the supplier for different media. Can you share your docker compose? It’ll be easier to understand what is going on.

Need server log for specific example to include structure and naming scheme. But if content does not exist on metadata provider sites then you have to add or manually added all info to Emby. Haunted Trophies (2024) does not exist on either site. (You should get results on OMDB for Haunted Trophies.) While Scorched Earth: Sun Glitch is on TMDB with really no info or images. Not currently. You can lend your support here: You could also post your query in community-made plugin thread, plugin Dev might be willing to include that feature (if feasible) in already expansive set of plugin's features: -

this had been an issue a while back and then it was gone for a version. shuffle comes back to the same playlist with one or two changes. Force restart doesn't fix it, nor restart of the phone. The server auto restarts every day. I can't imagine logs would help, but if so I'll get them tonite when Emby restarts.
