Hello, Found a bug: Go into library that has "group item into collections" checked and "titles" unchecked in display settings. Movies in library does not show titles (correct). Now go into a collection that has "titles" checked and then press back to return to previous screen, now all movies in library display titles (incorrect).

Gonna need a log from mpv. Read this and create an mpv.conf, then add the line: log-file=" " Between the speech marks add the address where to save it, and include the file name. example: log-file="C:\Users\username\Documents\mpv logs\log.txt" Play the video and recreate the issue only once, then attach the log here

I hope your right but… OS updates are done regularly on almost every computer device out there, just look at: Win10 it’s been through so many 2xHx. Now there trying to annoy people enough so they upgrade to Win11 My Samsung Galaxy S8+ was on android 7.0 when I bought it and now is on android 9.0 (this was pushed and did not brick it) (ya this old device still works fine) My android tablet has also been pushed up 2 major versions I used to be able to be able to change my default launcher on the fire sticks, but OS upgrades have made that undo-able without rooting them. (ya, I’ve stopped the add's long ago with pi-hole but this just leaves large/most parts of the screen blank) Sure a small percentage of these upgrades end up bricking some devices (but most of these are the result of idiots screwing with there device (usually trying to get something for free))

I have updated to 4.8.5 just now, I'll report back later on whether it made a difference.

@Vicpa Yeah, I think we are basically in agreement here I tend to associate Genre with the individual Artist/Song concerned because it is the artist's interpretation of the Song/Composition (irrespective of the original Composer) that creates the Genre/Style of the music. It's only really when the Genre rolls up and combines fields at a higher level that anomalies start to occur. The new music Genre pages are great - but need some filters, at least with "Artists". My personal preference would be to just show Album Artists within the current "Artists" section, but others would likely filter differently for themselves. John Lennon is a great example. I think most would regard him as mainly a Rock/Pop Artist , but his widely performed music could be classified as Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Metal, Hip-Hop... almost anything, you name it, depending upon the type of music you listen to. Only Emby can answer "design" or "bug". Either way, some clarity would be nice... BTW - I happened to find a few Ludwigs in my music library, not sure just yet how they got there though!!!

It may be possible that the part where it says "Genre JAZZ" is the source of your problems............... There is NO media player in the world that looks at that and doesn't tag the track, artist and composer as Jazz........

Everything I've read is that existing products will be on FireOS and only new purchased products will have Vega. None of our currently owned devices will be upgraded, period. AFTVNews speculates that current Fire TV device owners might not see the new operating system installed on their TV or streaming device, as Amazon does not even roll out new versions of the Fire TV OS to all devices currently. That could necessitate a new line of smart TVs and streaming devices that run on Vega as opposed to Fire TV’s software, which would in turn allow Amazon to collect more revenue from the sale of those devices. This is as of February 2024. Think about this..they try to do an OTA update and your device bricks. 10's if not 100's of millions of tech illiterate people worldwide would be up in arms about losing their ability to watch TV. It's far easier, and more economically vialble to force users to buy a new product with the new OS by gradually ignoring and or locking out the old ones and force people to upgrade like how the first gen firesticks and fireTV are basically useless today. Look on these forums and realize that the most frustrating users who have no clue about what they are talking about and who attack us experts when we explain why they are wrong, are STILL smarter than 90% of the general population when it comes to tech. That's what Amazon would be dealing with in regards to doing and OTA upgrade to Vega.

Hello, I have a problem with Emby. I searched the forum, and other people have had the same issue, but I couldn't find a solution. Here's my problem: The media stops playing and then resumes, and I only have this problem with transcoding. All my files are in HEVC, and many are in 10-bit. Most of them have subtitles, but I don't think the issue comes from them. I mostly encounter this problem on Android TV (Nokia 8000). I think I also had the problem on my iPhone XR, but not as frequently. Emby is on Unraid, and I'm using the official version (embyserver). I've configured transcoding in advanced settings, and I've checked all the boxes. In the Emby Docker settings, I've properly set: NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES /transcode --runtime=nvidia So, I don't have any issues on that side, normally. However, I don't experience any problems with direct playback (at least it seems so). I don't know where the problem originates from. Plugins are basically deprecated on truenas core- other than the official ones. But unless you keep up to date with Ix's forums most people are probably be out of that loop. There is some - probably too mild language about plugins and support in the latest avail truenas version when you install one. But long story short... You are much better served making a normal jail and using the emby freebsd install directions inside the jail. Just be sure to check the mlock option.

As an other example, you can add the modern John (Lennon) he shows up in just about every genre, Ask the same question is Lennon a "Jazz Artist" ? By most standards he would NOT be classified as such

Hi, I like manage my games (EMU, VN etc.) in Emby, the look and feel is great, especially I also have lots of Anime, and Games and Anime combine really well in the same server. GameBrowser plugin is great in separating GameSystems, but has no support for using local metadata file. So recently I've already updated NfoMetadata plugin to be able to read from a local game.nfo file, which is also helpful to be able to use external scrappers. But I've noticed that in Emby Games Metadata does not contain person information, such as game director, artists, writers, voice actors etc. Looking through decompiled source, it appears Game.SupportsPeople = false. I'd like a way to modify this to true through an API of some sort in the plugin. If that's not possible then could you please change this in MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.Game? change it to true. I know Emby is not initially designed to work with games, but at least it works, and works great. So I'd like to contribute to the development of Game features to make it a great Game Management tool. Thanks!

What do you mean by 'newer products' everything I've read about this new OS says that it will be pushed to most existing fire devices/tv out there. Oh, I'm not looking forward to this... ...but emby(Luke) has said (somewhere on this forum) they expect to have a client for this quickly...

That depends on the client app, Emby will default to the version it deems will most efficiently play, so you might see different version being picked even inside same LAN, depending on device.

I have the same video in 4K and 1080p format. I know I can put both formats in the same folder and it will show a drop down of format to choose. Does the drop down always default to the same format regardless if local or remote?

That is fine. You do not have to go out of your way. Knowing that it fails on your HDMI chain is enough to see that the Roku may not understand it still has control of the input source. We may have to include a setting to disable the "Active HDMI" so that users like yourself who have issues with it don't have to use it. That might be the best way to handle this. No other users have reported issues with this yet. But maybe the flood of users is coming? In any case it isn't supposed to happen. But sometimes for these weird edge cases we might need a setting. Please stay tuned and we will have something soon. Apologies this is even an issue. It should be resolved very soon.

Hmmm, my guess is still that Emby is combining Album Artist/Artist/Composer metadata/tags all together into the new Genre Artist section??? I think the only place that Emby really properly separates the 3 is at the top level Music Navigation Tab for the 3 distinct page views. (I could be wrong though.) A similar type of combining happens with Songs, whereby Songs Performed by an Artist are mixed with Songs Composed by the same person, but performed by someone else. I don't have the eminent Ludwig to check this (and it's probably impossible to anyway) but the modern Paul (as in McCartney) causes the same issue. Yes, it's the same person, but the three metadata fields/tags have different meanings and should be treated as such by Emby for all music navigation and playback purposes. Sure, no problem with linking Composers to Genres as a choice, where some people may want to see this, but there are many valid use-cases to have the option to separate/filter linked Album Artist/Artist/Composer Genre/Song relationships from each other. Is there a good rationale for the fixed combining that is happening?

@speechlesThanks for your help! How strange. We're running Roku -> Yamaha TSR-7810 -> LG 55LN5200. And this has been the chain since we bought the Roku 3 years ago. Based on what you've said I did some troubleshooting. I unplugged the HDMI cables from all the various points in the system and plugged them back in. No effect. I don't have any extras at the moment but I'll get some and try them out. I don't know if this helps or hinders but we also have jellyfin installed on the same server and the same files are playing fine on this roku, to the same avr and tv as we use with Emby. Would this rule in/out the HDMI cables being a problem?

I skimmed a bit about the plugin. To me it seems a bit complicated to add a few tags. Am wondering if I really need to install portable mkvtoolnix to add the Decade or year or whatever is needed. I already have mkvtoolnix, but not the portable version. Is it needed for any form of tag, or maybe just for things like adding that Dolby Vision type stuff...

This box is using LibreELEC 11.0.6. I'll try a clean install of Kodi on Windows and LibreELEC. I haven't used Trakt is years lol! The Netflix plays are what I tested for the Dashboard sync. Netflix syncs to the server and Emby imports those files to the library. From They are .strm files so that is my suspicion. Any of my non .strm files play perfectly fine. Do you want the EmbyServer log as well?
