Can Emby look up XMP metadata in the photos?
Teredactle replied to Teredactle's topic in General/Windows
Hi CasaAtardecer, sorry I haven't had the time and don't anticipate having the time to work on this, likely till the fall. However, if there is a workflow for coding this into a JPG, I would like to look at it, i.e. command line, or with Advancer Renamer, etc, etc. Thank you! -

Emby Misinterpreting a Folder as a TV Series.
brothom replied to Kev Vader's topic in General/Windows
Can confirm that this issue is caused by either having additional nesting and / or having empty folders on a season/show level. Having this structure with a TV-show will make also make Emby think there's an extra Season (even if the folder is empty). /Media/TV-Shows/Pokemon (1997)/Movies/... /Media/TV-Shows/Pokemon (1997)/Season 01/... In the above example, Movies will appear as a separate season within Pokemon. But this isn't an Emby problem - but an organisational one. Solution Other platforms also have issues distinguishing which is which or which belongs to what That is what we have naming conventions for: https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html Try to ALWAYS use the suggested logic above. It also makes ordering your own files insanely simple. Separate library content If you want to separate Kids and Adult content, it would be best to do it as such: /Media/TV-Shows/.. /Media/Movies/.. /Media/Kids/TV-Shows/.. /Media/Kids/Movies/.. That way you can tell emby the /Media/Kids/TV-Shows(or Movies) belongs to the Kids library without interfering with the other content. - Today

@Lukemy example still stands for providing randomized, Genre-based content. I've been testing this on my local server for the last few days and seems to work pretty well with only additions to the homescreen.html (adding the option to the section selects) and homesections.js (which renders the homescreen sections). Would you like me to send you an example of my implementation? If you guys aren't interested in that sort of business at all I'd like to know as well so I'll stop making suggestions code-wise.

brothom started following Sorting Collection / Bulk sort playlists
-
I'm not sure if there are already requests for these features but I couldn't find any. I was just working on creating chronological playlists/collections for Stars / Marvel / DC etc when I noticed two things. Collections can only be sorted by default fields (Album, Artist, Date Added, Title, etc) and "Collection Order". I'm assuming the Collection Order means the order in which the item is added to the collection? When working on playlists, studios sometimes add prequels or sequels which in turn would end up somewhere in between a collection. Is there a way to influence the "Collection Order" of items within a Collection other than removing every sequential item and adding all items again in the correct order? Using Playlists we cán add a custom order but that can ONLY be done for 1 item a time. So for example the following scenario is inconvenient: Create Star Wars list Add Andor Add The Mandalorian Add The Acolyte Have to manually move each entry to the first position within the playlist There ís a bulk selection within playlists but that doesn't seem to do much besides being able to delete multiple items? Would it be an idea to be able to select multiple items and drag all of them to a certain position, causing all selected items to be placed áfter the drop target? Summary Can we add the option to sort Collections? The reason is that Collections also don't show ALL episodes within a season, making them perfect for building chronologies. Can there be an option to bulk-move/order items within a playlist? Moving entire series or albums is quite a chore and all the scrolling makes me dizzy.

Window is moving 1 pixel to the right when starting to play a video
softworkz replied to Xairoo's topic in Windows & Xbox
Hi guys, sorry for the inconvenience. The point is not that it's difficult to fix but that each possible way of fixing it comes with a substantial risk to have side effects. In many cases, changes are straightforward and you can be pretty sure that it will work out exactly as intended. These kinds of changes can be made as part of maintenance updates. But changes with risks have to be done during a beta period, where changes are carefully tested before getting released. It's on the list and you can be sure that it will be taken care of during the next beta phase. Thanks -
Issue with playback on constrained baseline profile on Xbox app only
softworkz replied to agmarkis's topic in Windows & Xbox
Okay, thanks. We'll disable the constrained baseline profile in the next update, so that it gets transcoded by the server. Thanks -
@SLMK The reported issue in this conversation has been resolved since version 2.226 Please create a new topic and describe your symptoms including .logs. Thank you

Happy2Play replied to LordVZlomka's topic in Synology
Overall issue will be that file only applies to the web client. Dev would have to confirm here but think the only options in your case would be using the api to rePost an updated config for that library. @Luke But do not know the side effects with this automated folder. -

Can't to rename the auto-generated "Collections" folder
Happy2Play replied to LordVZlomka's topic in Synology
It is by design and handled by language translations scripts within Emby string files (\system\dashboard-ui\modules\common\strings). As this folder is auto generated by Emby so everything in hard coded. -
Emby Misinterpreting a Folder as a TV Series.
Happy2Play replied to Kev Vader's topic in General/Windows
Yes nested folder structures catch Emby all the time in Mixed content as it tries to guess what level in just a folder and where the content starts and the type of content it is supposed to be in Mixed Content type libraries. Do you need M:\Kids Movies\Kids Movies? But may need to breakdown your structure of overall content in M:\Kids Movies. Or point library folder to M:\Kids Movies\Kids Movies Not sure why one image shows F: and other shows M: for drive letter though. -
Good morning on my side everybody, I have the latest vantage point plugin v 2.1.0.5 with emby 4.8.11.0, I have set up intros, phones and certification for movies, they all work just fine, same thing for series, just intro and certification, I can't get that to work in any way. I always get this error for series: Yes, all the intros, files are accessible by emby, the movies one work without a problem, I did the whole library scan after every modification in vantage point, they don't work for series. My whole setup is in docker.

background image on the login page, is it possible?
Happy2Play replied to gueburah's topic in Web App CSS
Ideally you just create a script to create a custom subfolder within /system/dashboard-ui/Custom-images/ and copy images into that folder with every update. Or copy into existing theme folders. Like here where I copy/replace logo with a script and/or tool to replace existing default image with my colored image. -

Okay, here's a breakdown of what happened. I've set up a webhook script through 'notifications' to log changes in my library and playback info. This worked fine until I started making big changes to the library; I've been replacing my 720p series with 1080p versions. I've overwritten the old files with the updates ones, kept the filenames. The library itself updates fine, the notifications that should follow behave erratically. For every episode I expect 2 entries; one for removing (the old), one for adding (the new). It is notable that for episodes that DO get notifications, I always get both 'removed' and 'added', so at least that is consistent. Here's a summary of what happened May 31 (first big changes): * "The Office (US)": replaced 9 seasons, 185 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) - "The Good Place": replaced 4 seasons, 50 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) June 3: * "The Bridge (2011)": replaced 4 seasons, 38 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) June 4: * "His Dark Materials": replaced 3 seasons, 23 episodes - ISSUE: No notifications for season 1 episodes 1 to 4 - ISSUE: All other episodes were reported TWICE (two for adding, two for removing) * "The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance": replaced 1 season, 10 episodes - ISSUE: Notifications ONLY for episode 6 and 7 (one for adding, one for removing) June 9: * "Rick and Morty": replaced 7 seasons, 71 episodes - ISSUE: No notifications for all of season 1, season 2, season 6 and season 7 - ISSUE: Season 3 only first episode (one for adding, one for removing) - ISSUE: Season 4 only episodes 6 to 10 (one for adding, one for removing) - Season 5 was the only season reported in full (one for adding, one for removing) July 5: * "Family Guy": replaced 20 seasons, 387 episodes - To summarize: First 5 seasons NO ISSUE, from there on lots of missed episodes, notifications for last 3 seasons missing completely * "American Dad!": replaced 20 seasons, 366 episodes - ONLY 6 episodes out of 366 got reported. I could go on, I've replaced many more since then, not one of them getting all the notifications they should have (up to "The Walking Dead" that I replaced yesterday, getting just 1 episode notification out of 177 eps) I've attached a log of yesterday. Look for 'emby.php' where my webhook is called. There are a few playback notifications in there too (those still work fine) embyserver.txt

LordVZlomka started following Trailers section in the navigation menu does not work

Hi, I'm running Emby on a D923+ Synology NAS and tried to download the Trailers plugin, but instead of the section working, it created a new folder in the main section (near movies, shows, music, etc.). What am I doing wrong? Also, the green link does not direct to the plugin, but instead to the catalog.

Which cloud storage best for video streaming?

When choosing the best cloud storage for video streaming, it really depends on your goals—whether you're storing content for personal access, offering on-demand video to a global audience, or building a full-fledged streaming platform. For general use, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Microsoft Azure Blob Storage are highly reliable. They offer scalability, low latency, and CDN integration to ensure smooth playback. However, they’re just the storage part—you’ll still need additional tools for transcoding, DRM, monetization, and frontend delivery. If you're looking for an all-in-one solution specifically for video streaming, platforms like VPlayed are worth considering. VPlayed not only provides secure cloud streaming but also handles end-to-end video delivery, including encoding, adaptive streaming, monetization models (like SVOD, AVOD, TVOD), and analytics. It’s a customizable solution tailored for creators, broadcasters, and businesses looking to launch their own video streaming service. -

Dispatchaar is the most stable and flexible setup I’ve found so far, plus it’s being actively developed with a new release every few weeks. That may be good or bad depending on how you see it. The downside is channel startup time, it is slower than the others but I prefer that over the freezing of channels and mess other setups create. The other issue I have is there’s no scalable solution for vod content yet, it’s in their roadmap. Setting it all up depends on how you want to use it. The more effort you put into organising everything at the start the more time and headache you’ll save later. For me it’s where in import my playlist into. I select which groups I want imported, everything else gets ignored. Groups you select get put into a stream ‘staging’ area. So from this stream list you have to create channels, these are what are ultimately exposed to emby. The channel name corresponds to the stream name and you can edit the channel name directly. The main standout feature of Dispatchaar is you can add multiple streams to a single channel. The benefit is you make it easier for users who only see one channel and Dispatchaar should switch streams automatically however you can manually do this through the GUI too. You can duplicate channels with different stream orders and put them in different profiles for different emby accounts if you wished… Pooling of accounts works great, so if you have multiple accounts with the same provider you can set Dispatchaar to use then in sequence, the GUI will show which account is being used for which stream. EPG integration is great, but not needed. I import my EPG and auto matching or channels is pretty good but you can always override it. This way when you import into emby channel numbers and epg are how you set them. There’s a lot more it can do with regard to transcoding profiles, streaming profiles, you can even set individual channels to direct play, with different user agents. Downsides of Dispatchaar. VOD is a big one for me, I would prefer an easier way to proxy them, for now you have to import each item as a channel, I tried to import a few thousand items and it killed my instance. HLS Proxy is better in this regard as it automatically creates a proxied M3U of your entire playlist which you can manipulate and import into emby using other tools. GUI - once you log out and log back in the GUI will take a minute or two to repopulate with your configuration. Not sure why this is the case. It just makes wanting a Quick Look at the stats a bit annoying as you have to wait. Plus sometimes the load caused by the playlist import can cause connection issues, but this is likely my weak server I have it running on. Channel Management - changing channel positions and numbering is a bit clunky. You need to plan ahead and know which channels you want where. Plus you can’t have a gap in the numbering, any new channel you create gets added to the next free channel number. There is a profile feature where channels can be put into different M3U’s but I find it frustrating. Granular Controls - there’s not many streaming parameters you can configure when compared to HLS Proxy, but so far I’ve not had to amend anything. My channels play for hours on end without interruption.
