Emby Server 4.7.9 - Enhancements to Playlists, Webhooks & New Users...

This is the latest point release of Emby Server containing new features as well as fixes for identified issues.

New User Setup Features: Copy Policy and Configuration Data From Other Users:
Emby now includes the ability to copy policy and configuration settings from an existing user on the system during user creation.

You can pick a user to copy data from during creation of a new user, simplifying the job of the admin!
Coping Policy information allows you to duplicate the settings from another user's access to libraries, Channel Features as well as Parental Filtering.
User Configuration items that can be copied include items such as audio and subtitle language choice, ordering as well as default library order on the home screen.

These new features make setting up new users quicker than ever. Admin's using specific library access, Rating Systems access as well as complex parental restrictions are sure to love this!

TIP: You can create a user set it's properties then use it as a Template User. You could for example have a "Template-PG-13" user that has access to only the libraries and channels you want a 13 year old to have to. You would setup parent restrictions on rating as well as times of the day the  user has access.  You could restrict 3pm to 5pm viewing on weekdays to encourage doing homework for example.

Playlists Now Support Sorting and Reordering

Users can now reorder and sort playlists as shown below. This is a new handy feature that's easy to use by clicking the center button between Shuffle and Heart.

Webhooks is More Powerful then Ever and Easier to Use

Webhooks has been expanded with additional events at your disposal to choose from.  The UI is streamlined and straightforward, making it quite simple to use even if you've never used webhooks before. The GUI makes it simple to filter based on the user as well as being able to only apply the webhook to specific libraries (for library events).

You can view the webhook payload right from the GUI as well as send test webhooks to a destination of your choosing.

Hi devs.,

I notice when i create a new user or just even copy the existing profile, i found out when i set those parameters such like THEMES on profile display, and etc, is doesnt have good same effect when this new user sign in on there phones, tablet and desktop is this a bugs? I attach screenshot..

Hi, themes are stored separately on each device because you may want to configure that differently for different screens.

What about for another setting options?

It not carried when i set this in specific user profiles under my emby server, and when the new user login it has different display and home screen arrangment for my folder..

Under HOME SCREEN

screen sections is not carry on into new user as well new devices..

another also not carry, same HOME SCREEN

DEFAULT SCREEN, always the emby choose SUGGESTIONS, even i set FOLDER, the system choose SUGGESTION.. It happen this for MUSIC LIBRARY, for movies library it correct follow..

Those settings do carry across devices but they are specific to each user.

HI, if you sign in with the same user on two devices, the home screen settings and default screen settings will carry.

Can you retest this? As Luke said it should follow.

If you're not seeing this, please let us know what client/version you set it on and which client/version it didn't change on.  That will allow us to try and reproduce the issue.

Hi Luke,

i try your suggestions to sign in same account user into two devices, it not carry the setting i made in emby server the HOME SECTION and DEFAULT SCREEN on Library..

i change the setting in one device and sign in to second devices but it show different environment, i should to do again customizing what i did in first device.

Hi Luke, i found the the way to carry the setting that i facing issue, i should sign-out the two devices and sign in again, the first devices i made a setting it will carry the setting into second devices, this is only way to apply the carry setting..

Luke is there a chance to apply the setting i do in my first devices going into second devices, that when i go from MEDIA CATEGORY, and i choose shorted by date to apply this also from second devices, i try but is not carry, take a look the screenshot.

Hi, sorting and filtering does not carry over from one device to another, sorry. You could create a view on one screen that might not necessarily be appropriate for another (different size) screen.

Hi luke I was wondering why when I copy a user, (with policies and configurations) the screen preferences, "Genre display limit:" and "Genre display limit for lists" are not copied too ... "Show a poster" is not copied on the detail screen" nor "Show all episodes of all seasons"... could you add this too when copying a user please? Thank you
