can't play live tv on phone itself but can chromecast

My phone can cast live tv to a chromecast just fine but if I try to play it directly on my phone I get "Playback error - There was an error processing the request". Krustyreturns reports that things look fine on the serverwmc side based on my log file. I'm not sure where to find the android log file but I've attached the emby server log and serverwmc log (restarted services immediately before reproducing to minimize log file noise). At 11:25 I started a live tv stream in my browser and closed it at 11:26. Then at 11:27 I tried playing directly on my phone. So 11:27 and on is the part that's most relevant.

If I need to get a log file off of my phone just let me know where to find it.

I'm not sure what the "transcoding" log is. Is that just the plain old server log or something else? I provided a server log in the first post, though of course it's not the exact same attempt. Not sure if you're looking for a matching version of that or something else.

Since you asked for transcoding logs and I didn't have any, I'm left wondering if you're able to proceed with what I do have? Appreciate the attention, Luke!

I had this problem and found I had to enable http host service in ServerWMC. Unfortunately ServerWMC does not seem to save the setting so if you reboot the PC you need to select it again. Other than that it works perfectly.

No, I've already got http enabled and in my case the setting is saved across reboots. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Unfortunately i don't have the ability to replicate your exact setup. If I think of something I will let you know. We will be updating libvlc soon, so maybe that will help.

I just got the libvlc update and it didn't help. Is there any logging that could be added to help isolate the issue? Why is live tv different than recordings which do play fine? Is it because ServerWMC is using an http stream? Is there anything else which could differ when it comes to playing live tv?

With lots of app updates in the android store lately, I'm wondering if you could also sneak in some extra logging or something to help get to the bottom of this issue? And still curious if the problem could be related to using http to stream live tv? I'm willing to do whatever possible to help troubleshoot this if that helps.

Wouldn't buffering be done by the client? Nevertheless I checked the settings and I don't see anything relating to how the stream functions other than http vs normal. Would you say this is something krustyreturns should look at from the serverwmc side? I started this thread because he thought things looked fine from the serverwmc side but if you don't think more logging could do any good on the emby side then perhaps more logging is needed on the serverwmc side?

I'm a little frustrated that there is seemingly no possible way to move forward on this problem. I know you're plenty busy and patience is the least I can show but I'm just looking for any way to inch toward a solution, and so far after a month it appears that we haven't moved even an inch closer.

I do very much appreciate that I'm at least getting replies. :)

Right now I don't know sorry, and I don't have an equivalent test setup for testing. maybe see if serverwmc has a hidden config switch for a buffer that can be increased

Search for this setting in serverwmc's settings file (see debug tab):

  <BufferDelayLiveMS>0</BufferDelayLiveMS>

change 0 to whatever you want the delay to be, remember the time specified is in milliseconds.  After changing the value, save the file, and restart serverwmc.

I tried setting it to 5000 (5 seconds) but that made no difference. No one has suggested a specific value so I don't know if that was a good or bad choice. Luke or krustyreturns, let me know if I should try a different value. Otherwise, where do we go from here?
