Overview: DVB family
DVB delivery standards adapt digital television to terrestrial, cable or satellite transmission conditions.
DVB-T and T2 address terrestrial delivery, DVB-C addresses cable, and DVB-S or S2 address satellite. Those environments lead to different transmission and receiver relationships. The individual pages explain the selected standard before a service or reception problem is interpreted.
DVB-T
DVB-T specifies terrestrial television transmission using an OFDM-based carrier arrangement, framing and error protection before programme services are selected from recovered data.DVB-T2
DVB-T2 defines a second-generation terrestrial transmission arrangement with its own coding, framing and physical-layer-pipe configuration requirements.DVB-C
DVB-C specifies a digital cable transmission arrangement whose QAM modulation and framing recover service data before access and media decoding are established.DVB-S
DVB-S defines a satellite transmission system using QPSK and specified framing/error-protection relationships before programme services are recovered.DVB-S2
DVB-S2 specifies second-generation satellite framing, modulation and error protection, with the selected configuration determining the required reception and transport relationships.
