Overview: Video connections
Video connections carry a negotiated signal through links whose capacity and intermediate devices shape the available path.
HDMI and DisplayPort supply different transport arrangements, while DSC can change the representation carried on a supported path. An AV receiver adds another participant between source and screen. These topics identify the link and its constraints before a missing picture is treated as a decoding failure.
HDMI connections
HDMI video transport relates the chosen signal to link modes, bandwidth and cable capabilities.DisplayPort connections
DisplayPort carries video through supported link and connector arrangements, including USB-C alternate-mode paths.Display Stream Compression (DSC)
Display Stream Compression encodes the display-link picture representation to reduce transport demand under a supported source/sink configuration.AV receivers in the video path
An AV receiver in the picture route accepts an upstream display signal, handles its audio/control roles and produces a downstream signal whose capabilities form a second connection constraint.
