    Overview: DisplayPort connections

DisplayPort carries video through supported link and connector arrangements, including USB-C alternate-mode paths.

A USB-C connection can expose a DisplayPort route under the applicable alternate-mode arrangement. The connector, lane allocation and receiving path still need their own context. These pages distinguish that physical arrangement from DisplayPort's video-transport role.

    • DisplayPort
DisplayPort carries presentation streams over a negotiated link with separate lane/rate, stream-format and capability relationships.

    • USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode
USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode uses a supported USB-C connection arrangement to carry DisplayPort signaling, with lane allocation and adapters determining the available presentation path.
