Guest LeSchranz Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 It seems like there is a problem with a time conversion as all dates in my Emby library are off by one day (early). Example: The original airdate of an episode was 2004-12-05 then I can see the correct date when editing metadata, however it is shown as 2004-12-04 everywhere else: web interface, Android app, Kodi. So I tried to figure out what is happening and stumbled upon this old thread where something at least similar was discussed. So I started looking into my database and indeed, the dates are considered to be in local time of the server (in my case UTC+1) and then get converted to UTC as a Unix timestamp in the database and from there on that timestamp is displayed everywhere resulting in all dates being one day early. This happens no matter if I choose to save the metadata as .nfo or not. The only exceptions are the birthdates of actors, they are being displayed correctly until the metadata is edited manually. Now I am wondering wether this issue has really never been fixed or if there might be a workaround available?

Carlo 4560 Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 What dates are these? Is this the original air date or date added?
Guest LeSchranz Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 It's the original air date that made me notice the problem, but after a closer inspection it turns out that all dates are off including date added of episodes and dates related to actors. Although I just had a quick look at a movie and there the date added is displayed correctly (even after a manual edit of the metadata).
hepalien 1 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) I'm seeing the same issue on the web and in the Android TV app. For example, under "Upcoming" it shows Brooklyn Nine Nine airing 8/18 when it doesn't actually air until 8/19, and Ted Lasso out 8/19 when it doesn't come out until 8/20. I see several forum threads regarding this issue going back years, and none of them appear to offer a solution. I don't think there's any time zone in which B99 comes out on Wednesday. Carlo 4560 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Hi, if you go to the actual TV Show are the dates wrong here as well? What do you have setup for these option on this library? Is you server and local PC used for web in the same time zone?
hepalien 1 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Thanks for responding! I don't have live TV set up, so I don't have that exact screen, but yes, the dates are wrong everywhere. Previously aired episodes also have the wrong date. My library settings are the same as what you show. No, my server is in the Netherlands and my PC/TV are in the US.
Carlo 4560 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 How about the server settings themselves? Are you using US timecodes or Netherlands'?
hepalien 1 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) Under server settings I have language set to English (United States). Let me know if there's another setting you mean. Where can I see/set timecodes? ETA: My server library metadata settings are also English and United States. Edited August 17, 2021 by hepalien
hepalien 1 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I updated the timezone on the server machine and restarted Emby and refreshed the metadata for the TV library but am still seeing the wrong dates.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 (edited) Your should try setting your Library as Language: English and Country: Netherlands and Refresh. Edited August 18, 2021 by GrimReaper76 Typo
hepalien 1 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Tried it but still no luck. I had set the server machine to my time zone, do I need to change it back to the Netherlands?
Carlo 4560 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I would leave it set to your time zone, Then pick a couple pieces of media and refresh it's meta-data.
hepalien 1 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Ok, so my server is set to ET and I am in ET, and I tried with my country set to Netherlands and refreshed B99, and when that didn't work set it back to US and refreshed, and still the date shows a day early (8/18).
Carlo 4560 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Set the country to USA since that's where you are and try removing a show/series, doing a scan and then adding it back and scan again. Does that fix the dates?
hepalien 1 Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Unfortunately no, it still has the wrong dates.
Carlo 4560 Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 That's interesting. Let's ask our resident meta-data guru @Happy2Play and see if he has any ideas/comments. Anything else you can think of to try Happy2Play?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 I can say I do not see this behavior on any client from my Windows server on UTC -8. Since no one else is reporting this I would guess something specific to their setup. What server platform? Since you made changes do newly added its display the same behavior?
hepalien 1 Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Thanks for responding. FWIW, the person who started this thread is experiencing the same issue, and I see several other forum topics on it going back a few years. Server platform is Linux. Newly added episodes are still showing the wrong date.
hepalien 1 Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Hello, just wondering if anyone had any other ideas?
bumblebebear 0 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I just noticed I have the same issue on Ubuntu 22.04, both bare and docker versions (4.7.6.0). I'm using tmdb as primary metadata. Release Date is 1 day earlier than its supposed to be.
arthurmv 14 Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 I had the same issue for years but I think it's time to check if it has a fix or something. My timezone is UTC-8. My NAS and computers have the right time configuration. I think it's odd just few people has this issue. I have reinstalled many times emby server in these years and always it substracts one day from file metadata (music and video files).

Sure, if I add any media file with date on it, like a mp3 file with yyyy-mm-dd date format on it, emby substracts a day on that file. I've been updating them manually adding one day, but now I started up over a new server on my NAS (moving from Plex), and any single items gets a wrong date if it has the day on it. Just check my NAS timezone settings and my windows laptop and both are OK. Also the emby congifuration seems to be correct to me. Let me know if sharing any screenshoot or anything else can help in any ways.
