Ponyo 22 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) Hi, Today I noticed that all of a sudden 4k content with high bitrate stops every 10 ~ 20 seconds, appear to buffer for a bit and then plays fine again before stopping to buffer again after 10 ~ 20 seconds. Lower bitrate content is OK. This is happening on my LG C9 (wifi), 2017 shield tv (wired) and Fire tv stick 4k (wireless, though this one actually has the least amount of stutter despite being on the worst wifi network). I don't see any unusual high cpu usage or network usage on the server and opening the same files through VLC on my pc works fine. No buffering and the files open almost instantly. As far as I can tell it doesn't appear to be my network. logs.zip Edited October 5, 2020 by Ponyo
Luke 42085 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Hi, would you mind trying the 4.6.0.2 beta server to see if that performs better? thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Hi, Try rebooting your router as well. Seen routers cause this far to many times.
Ponyo 22 Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 I fired up a Ubuntu VM on the same machine I got my Windows VM running and the Ubuntu VM plays the same file without any problems. I'll try testing with the latest beta when I got time. Could this be related to the Windows read/write performance mentioned in the beta release notes? Though I do have all my data on a NAS. I tried rebooting my router etc. but none of that helped.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Is this not the same/similar issue as the 16 page discussion here? Emby as man in the middle setup. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/90230-constant-freezing-when-playing-4k/page/16/ 3

Emby server for Ubuntu did not have this issue, thus it works ok. The beta which @Luke mentioned resolves this - thus the beta should fix the issue.
motleyc 2 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 When is 4.5.2 being released? I have this problem on many of my media files. TV and Movies. I also have a PLEX server running and I have been using that for now but I prefer the Emby interface.

motleyc 2 Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I see the server updated over night. I will test later. I hope it is fixed. Thank You 1
