Can't add to playlist, can't add new playlist

I have a couple of movie playlists that i created a few weeks ago, that I use to syncrhonise with an android tablet.

Last night I deleted a couple of movies and added a few more to the playlist.  Those that I removed were removed, but only couple added.  I noticed that not all went in and when I went ot try and add them again, they didn't add.  Moreover, I attempted to create a new playlist and although it suggested that a playkist had been created there was no evidence for the playlist.

This is using the latest stable version on the WD PR4100

Did some more testing and seems to be a subset of movies that don't appear and my first instinct is that these are the same movies that are not being captured in collections despite all the meta data being correct etc. I reported this elsewhere.

Posted

Did you try creating collections for them?

Posted

I have the auto collections installed.

This works for some collections but for many collections there are items missing.

We tested this in a previous thread where I moved the movies from a collection from one library folder to another and the collection was seen correctly!

Anyhow, trying to add a movie to a collection does not work - if it isn't already in the collection via the plug in.

It seems this same issue is being propagated to playlists!

Yes, did all that.

And does that answer your question about why they were not automatically created?

Posted

Sorry, no.  As far as I can tell everything is in order and correct from my end - naming, metadata IDs etc.

There is a bug described in another thread and I successfully got a collection to appear with all movies by moving those movies to another folder held in the library.  I'd rather not have to rename my whole library though

My music playlists haven't been updating for at least a few days. Reboots of Emby server and device do not help. I can add tracks to a new playlist, but not to an existing one.

I've had the problem for quite a while now, haven't had time to look into properly. But from what I can see it's basically the same issue.

There are some movies I just can't add to any existing playlist, nor create a new one. I've found maybe 5 movies, what could be the cause of this?

The movies themselves play fine and nothing else looks weird, I just can't add the to playlist.

Edit: So far the only common thing I've found on two movies are that they 4K HEVC HDR, don't know if that has anything to do with it?

Here the media info on them:

Hi, can you rotate you log file (scheduled task), then try to add a couple of these movies to a playlist?

You can then upload the log file for us to take a look at.

Sure, here's the log file.

I don't see any issues.

What are the contents of the /volume1/Emby/data/playlists/Marvel Cinematic Universe [playlist] xml file and does this have the movie(s) you added listed?

Sorry for the late reply! I can't seem to access that folder with my main Synology account. I suppose I need login with the emby user? What's the default password for that user?

Edit: Never mind, I hadn't set the access for that folder for my main account, I can access it now.

The movies that are not visible in the interface are present in the xml file several times.

So it appears you've added the same movies more than once to the playlist.  You can edit the playlist or use the GUI to clean that up.

Can't help more than that as you didn't tell us what movie won't add to the playlist.

I would make sure the paths in the playlist file are still correct and that they exactly match the paths used the library in emby server.

Sorry, I was sure I mentioned that before.

Avengers Infinity War (2018)/Avengers Infinity War (2018) - 2160p.mkv

&

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)/Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) - 2160p.mkv

And I've added them over and over since they never show in the interface, and I can't clean it from the GUI since they don't show.

Ok, so I've done som testing now and this is my conclusion.

If we take Infinity War, the path for that movie is

/volume1/Media/Filmer/Blu-ray-x264/1080p/Avengers Infinity War (2018)/Avengers Infinity War (2018) - 2160p.mkv

and the entry in the xml file is

Path>/volume1/Media/Filmer/Blu-ray-x264/1080p/Avengers Infinity War (2018)/Avengers Infinity War (2018) - 2160p.mkv</Path>

So they match and the movie play fine.

But for some reason it doesn't show in the playlist.

But I thought I'd try renaming the file to something else.

/volume1/Media/Filmer/Blu-ray-x264/1080p/Avengers Infinity War (2018)/Avengers.Infinity.War.mkv

And when I did that I could add that movie to a NEW playlist and it shows up.

I also managed to find a difference between my "old" playlist a newly created one, and after I changed that I could add the above movie there as well and it would show.

Newly created playlist

Shares>
    <Share>
      <UserId>6</UserId>
      <CanEdit>true</CanEdit>
    </Share>

Old playlist

Shares>
    <Share>
      <UserId>1</UserId>
      <CanEdit>true</CanEdit>
    </Share>

So that looks like a permission problem, after I changed the old playlist to 6 as well, I could add the both Ant-Man and the Wasp  & Infinity War but ONLY when their names weren't basically this:

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) - 2160p.mkv

Avengers Infinity War (2018) - 2160p.mkv

So two different problems here, one related to permission on the old playlist perhaps, and the other one has something to do with the filename.

I tried a bunch of different names, spaces are not problem, () is not a problem either, and both together is not a problem, but something in the above filenames make them not show in the playlist. The reason for the the above filenames is because I had multiple version before, one 1080p and one 2160p.

Hi, were these newly renamed movies in the same library?

Are you by any chance running SmartPlaylist plugin or Automatic version grouping plugin (or have you in the past)?

I just renamed them now to try something. And yes they are in the same library. I've found three movies that I had multiple versions of, and they all had the structure in their filename.

I haven't used any of those plugins AFAIK.
