Using Emby In Car Experience

Attempting to ween off of Spotify and Google Play Music by using Emby in my car connected via bluetooth and there's a few things I wanted to address and see if I'm doing something wrong, or the application is.

I'm on the latest Emby for Android version and my device is a Pixel 3a XL running Android 10.
 

Observations:

• When choosing to shuffle a large playlist, the music plays, but the navigation menu does not pop up at the bottom of the app. Shuffling an album does display the bottom navigation menu.

(Playlist in question has 800+ songs in it. I just tried a much smaller playlist and it displayed the bottom navigation menu. When attempting the same on my large playlist, audio began to play, but the bottom navigation still did not show. The pull down menu in Android OS displayed music was playing, but it was the album info from the smaller playlist. I.E. Large playlist had artist X playing, but displayed info in pull down player from artist Y)

 

• Successfully played a song in my driveway still connected to my home WiFi, but upon skipping the track on mobile data, the app refused to play anything more.

(I switched to listening through Spotify, and upon returning home and reconnecting to my home WiFi, Emby stopped my Spotify playback, and began playing music from my library with no interaction from me)

 

 

Questions:

• Is there a limitation to playlist functionality when playlists are quite large in size?
• Can Emby switch from WiFi to mobile data without items being synced to the device for audio playback? (I've streamed videos using mobile data with no issues)

 

I'd like to be able to hop in my car, start shuffling a playlist while still connected to my home WiFi and transition to mobile data without losing playback or the ability to skip tracks.
Also, much larger navigation buttons in both portrait and landscape mode would allow for safer navigation while driving. Alternative, swipe functionality would be even safer and more desired.

 

I haven't used Emby for Android a ton, but with Soundiiz being supported, I'm giving it a go and hoping to use it more often in place of Spotify/Google Play Music.

If there's anything that would help illustrate my observations, or a mobile log that would show deeper explanation, I will happily provide what I can.

Can Emby switch from WiFi to mobile data without items being synced to the device for audio playback?

 

Hi, yes, but we currently don't have this kind of recovery during playback. it's something that needs to be improved. Thanks.
