Hello.

I will refer to a previous post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/54586-security-101-secure-connections/

I'm considering using Emby for my home videos so i can watch them on my appel TV, Mobile and Laptop out of my home.

But how secure is the connection.

I have a ESXI server and planning on using Emby on a Debain. (Is win10 better?)

And then connect outside the home to watch my movies, can you tell me how good the encryption is ont this connection?

Sorry if this alrdy been solved, i cannot find such post.

thanks

its not encrypted unless you choose to use https.  If you use https, it's as encrypted as any other SSL connection.

Okay so what i can read, the best is Win10 adn thats what i'm going with.

secound thing. Should i be using reverse Proxy to encrypt/hide my communication on the big WWW.

As far  as i can read, people seem to go with that, but also SSL Certificate.

to get https i need ssl certificate right?

One last thing, i'm having trouble with my subtitles. it wont even show up?

I have the local on my server, but there is no option on the video to choose subtitles? I'm missing the CC button?

First thing I would do is compare your subtitle file names to our subtitle naming guide:

I linked to gyzo where you can see i tried to diffrent kinds of subs

And the CC button is'sn there when i play a movie?

is there a setting that will help this? i mean a setting like "always use local subs"

Do i have to use the Force subs?

I looked at the subs again, and found out the file name of the movie was not named like showed XD

I just looked at the Subs, and how they could look like, thanks again ;)

And now they're showing up?

Yep.

Before my movies was named fx: Pulp Fiction 1080p (1990)

and the subs just Danish.srt and English.srt

so i changed it to: Pulp Fiction.mp4

and subs: Pulp Fiction.Engelsk.srt and Pulp FIction.Danish.srt

And it works perfect, thanks again ;)

About the guide/link to setup Emby server SSL certificate. the post is from 2017 and he says this Emby Server version 3.2.15.0 and older only: The installer for OpenSSL.

Does that affect me in any way? Just wanted to ask before i begin the journey  to SSL ;)

Hey again guys, i'm in this situation now where i need a little help.

i have my SSL.pfx and SSL.pem file. but how do i decode it, and wich file do i need to upload to my Emby Server Localhost?

the guides i found was not easy XD. see below, i cannot do that? and also very bad explenation on what each file is and the process in it? hope anybody can help

Execute command ""<path to file openssl.exe>" pkcs12 -in "<path to password-protected PFX file>" -nodes -out "<path to folder containing PFX file>\temp.pem"".

11. Enter password for the PFX file.

12. Execute command ""<path to file openssl.exe>" pkcs12 -export -in "<path to PEM file>" -out "<path for passwordless PFX file>"".

13. Enter no passwords (just press Return twice).

Hi there, the help text on the Advanced settings screen of the server will tell you the format that it should be in. Does this answer your question?

ehm? not guite XD

Custom ssl certificate path:
search
Path to a PKCS #12 file containing a certificate and private key to enable TLS support on a custom domain.

Ist tnat .pfx or .pem

and do u know a good guide to decode it? or something

Ok sorry i thought we mentioned pfx. Pfx is what most people use. I don't know what you mean by decoding. You just enter the path to the certificate , as well as the certificate password, and that's it.
