kirshman 1 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I can connect just find to my emby server using apps on my roku's, browsers on pc's, or apps on android devices as long as i'm on my network, but as soon as i go off my network all it says is "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." Anyone have any ideas on how to get this going?
Luke 42077 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hi there, how are you trying to connect remotely? Are you entering your server ip address manually?
ebr 16169 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hi. It sounds like you haven't setup your remote connection properly. Connectivity 1
Luke 42077 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hi, yes please try our Connection Troubleshooter linked above. Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed, and which ones do not. thanks !
kirshman 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) I'm not sure I understand. Do i still need to set up port forwarding and such if um using emby connect? I've tried setting up 2 different connect accounts and get this error with both of them. I thought connect would just work. My server is on a nvidia shield and my private network is behind a firewall and my ISP uses nat. Edited August 26, 2019 by kirshman
Luke 42077 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 I'm not sure I understand. Do i still need to set up port forwarding and such if um using emby connect? Yes you still do. Emby Connect simply saves you from having to remember your server ip address. It does not do anything to bypass remote access requirements.
kirshman 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) So if my isp uses nat so I have the same external ip as who know how many people, is it even possible to use it remotely? Edited August 26, 2019 by kirshman
kirshman 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Good idea. Have a recommendation? I've never set one up before.
