lexisdude 145 Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Anyone that can answer this I would be very grateful.I am wanting to change the link of "Books" from the main menu to point to my calibre server. IE: instead of going to I:\EBOOKS for example it goes to http://127.0.0.1:3500I understand the actual functionality would only be suitable from a standard browser; but would like to do the edit all the same.

vaise 340 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 I dont have my books in emby, just a selection of audio books.
mtjj 31 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 No idea :-( I guess this is not really about books, it's more about "how do I put a custom link on the main menu"? If you phrase it like that, maybe some other people might know the answer?
mtjj 31 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Out of curiosity I googled a bit and it seems it's not (any longer) possible to add custom links to Emby. The recommended solution in this thread here is Organizr, which would basically let you put calibre and emby together. Might be worth checking out.
lexisdude 145 Posted December 15, 2019 Author Posted December 15, 2019 (edited) Out of curiosity I googled a bit and it seems it's not (any longer) possible to add custom links to Emby. The recommended solution in this thread here is Organizr, which would basically let you put calibre and emby together. Might be worth checking out. Ok, my first evaluation of Organizr left alot to be desired. Until I learned how to use it effectively. It is really a nice utility - thank you for suggesting it! The only drawback is having to go to 2 or 3 places to get everything that we should be getting in Emby. Which is what my reasoning was behind editing the 'books' button. Instead of launching into bookshelf - it goes into the calibre server page. Maybe the real answer is making it so the menus in emby are more modular rather than locked down and defined. I could see where this could lead to some big problems , such as external callouts from the roku, theater, or wmc but that could also be diverted by making buttons that were edited not appear in those applications and only be visible in the web browser. Ultimately the answer is get bookshelf fixed and working as it should have been since its conception/release in the original MB Edited December 16, 2019 by lexisdude
