stevenb@gmail.com 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Very disappointed with 4.0. I was looking forward to upgrading to it because of the EPG for UK channels which looks very good. But I've lost the ability to play subtitles with Apple TVs. I've read in the forums about how transcoding for Apple TV with subtitles is demanding in terms of processing and how turning subtitles off fixes the problem - it does but here's the thing. It wasn't a problem with V.3.6. I had just got Emby up and running across 4 Apple TVs with subs and IPTV. But now with 4.0 it's stopped working. I tried loading Emby onto a much more powerful PC - i7 2.6Ghz 16Gb RAM. Exactly the sameblem so I don't think it's a processing issue. I can play media with subs on my iPhone and in the Google browser, but 4.0 has killed the Apple TV experience which is a shame given I've spent 500 Euros on installing them. Advice much appreciated.
legallink 187 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I would post this in the Apple TV sub. Also, They are working on/close to done with a new Apple TV app which will solve, hopefully, whatever subtitle problem you are having.
Luke 42080 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I apologize for this issue affecting Apple TV. We will be getting a fix out to resolve it. Thanks.
stevenb@gmail.com 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Thanks for the rapid response. I'll keep a look out.
stevenb@gmail.com 0 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Just to say the 4.0.1 has fixed the .mkv subs issues with Apple TV - thanks very much. Also like to say that IPTV is much improved in this release. Streaming is much smoother. Again thanks very much.
notla49285 48 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 It's hardly fair to say that the entire 4.0 upgrade is disappointing just because one thing has gone wrong 1
stevenb@gmail.com 0 Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Did I say the entire 4.0 upgrade is disappointing? No, I said that I was disappointed with 4.0 because of the loss of subtitles....which have now been fixed and as stated above I've noticed great improvements in IPTV streaming as well. Jeez I thought all this "misquoting" statements was just found on the Brexit pages in Facebook. I am new to Emby. I have invested nearly 1000€ in enabling a media solution in my home which revolves around Emby, and delivers out of the box on services that were painfully difficult with Kodi. Subtitles is key to experiences for my family (we are multi-lingual) and so yes, having finally got a great service up and running, for it to go wrong 2 weeks later was disappointing. What is VERY refreshing to learn is the speed at which the team at Emby have fixed this. Thanks guys.
Perplexed 25 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Next time when you experience an issue, consider a less accusatory and more descriptive title of your actual issue, that's is probably what people were trying to tell you here 1
Luke 42080 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 The update I mentioned is available now: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-448-emby-server-401-released/ If you have any other issues we're happy to help. Thanks !
