TheRealStarboy 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I just updated from 3.5 to 4.0.0.2 and previously all my TV Show libraries were grouped together to look like one TV Show library and the same for my Movie libraries. If I remember right this option was configured under the Home screen settings but I don't remember what it was called. I do not see the setting in the Home screen settings anymore or anywhere else for that matter. Was the setting removed or moved to some place else? Thanks
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 This feature was removed. Did you see the Announcement? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/67990-grouping-libraries-on-home-pages/
TheRealStarboy 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Thanks That would be great if the screenshots actually worked on the page you referenced but they don't and I have tried 4 different browsers and it's kind of hard to follow with out any of the images
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 It has been brought up and they are looking into why the wiki images are not showing. But will tag them again. @@Luke @@ebr https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/New-Folder-based-Access-Control
TheRealStarboy 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Thanks for the help but man this was my first bad experience with emby. I have a very large library and to fix this you have to remove all your old libraries and set them up under one library. I understand the idea but for someone who has almost 500 TV Series and 5000 + Movies this is going to take a long time to fix. That's a lot of rework especially if you have customized some stuff. On a positive note it does seem to run quicker not that I ever really thought it was slow especially when compared to Plex. Overall looks like a lot of good work thanks to all involved in the update.

eblue 1 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 So I just created a new 'Movies' library containing the folder paths that were previously auto-grouped eg. V:\Movies\3D, V:\Movies\Blu-ray, V:Movies\4K, etc. I also kept my existing libraries because I would like to view that content separately on occasion as I had it setup previously. It now appears that the new Movies library is re-downloading metadata for those same movies and not honoring the settings of the CoverArt plugin that I have specified. I'm also curious to know if doing it this way has now doubled the size of my Emby database and does it mean that library scans will now take twice as long? I really need to have the consolidated Movie view so that there is a single place to view all of my movies regardless of type or location. I also need a single view that shows me the total number of movies in my library. The old way just worked. This new way seems to have thrown out some crucial functionality for the sake of adding marginally useful features.
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 @@eblue is this actually working? Currently you cannot duplicate the same folder across more than one library. I would expect one of them to come up empty.
eblue 1 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 It IS working, but I'm having the opposite problem. Movies are now showing up twice in search results. Also, as I mentioned, CoverArt is also incorrect for non-Blu-ray movies. Is there any way that maybe I'm just not thinking of that will return the ability to see ALL of my movies under one view along with a total number, as there was prior to V4 being released?
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 You would have to add it using the exact same folder path as the other library, otherwise this is expected behavior.
eblue 1 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 You would have to add it using the exact same folder path as the other library, otherwise this is expected behavior. That fixed it! Wow, I'm glad that you noticed that. It seems kind of obvious once you think about it. CoverArt is working now as well. I thought I saw you mention somewhere that showing the number of items was going to be restored. That is my only other must have to get back to where I was with previous versions. If that is the case, will the number of items contained in Collections be restored as well? I relied on that feature heavily as well.
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I'm surprised your content is showing up in all places. Most others have reported that when they duplicate the same path in multiple libraries, that one of them ends up being empty. What do you mean by number of items in collections? But why not just use one single Movies library? If you want to see them separate, that's what we have the new Folders tab for.

On previous versions, somewhere in the circled area the total number of items contained in each collection was displayed. I also noticed that the total numbers of collections in a library is no longer displayed. Otherwise, everything is now displaying fine in in both locations. I wasn't aware of this Folders tab feature that you are referring to. Where can I find out more info about it?
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Yes that's possible to add back in the future. thanks. 1
