People (Cast and Crew) Images Disappeared After v4 Upgrade

After performing a v4 upgrade and the subsequent library scan, I noticed that Cast and Crew images seem to have mostly disappeared. Somewhere in the vicinity of 5% remain. I can click on the persons name and force emby to download the metadata and image, but doing a "Refresh people" scan has no effect.

1. No people Images

2. Click on actors name and force download of images and metadata.

3. Return to Show or Movie page and refresh the page.

I'm just looking for a way to populate all my cast and crew information and images without having to click on each one. Thoughts? Let me know what actions you'd like me to perform and I'll get you a log file to go along with it.

I lost an entire library's worth of metadata that I had added manually. These were items that couldn't be scraped. Not looking forward to redoing everything. Damn.

Apologies for this. Did the library scan complete, and did you run the people refresh scheduled task?

Yes, both ran successfully. The initial library scan was nearly a day, which is what I would expect for my library based on previous initial scans. It has been run several times since, and completes in less than a minute without issues. The people refresh was done directly after the library scan and completed "successfully" in under 5 minutes. It has been run several times since and completes in a few seconds.

Quick update. I backed up my user and config and then deleted the library database. After a re-scan all the cast and crew images have populated. Sorry I won't be able to provide any information to troubleshoot what went wrong, but I needed to get everything working quickly and this definitely did the trick. Thanks for all your work, v4 is sweet!

Hello.

User in paid version, I also note that this new version could have been tested before being imposed.

The problem of images of the casting no longer appearing is very damaging. I tried to rebuild the media libraries, refresh the base several times: no results. And scan a video library of more than 57,550 movies, it's long.

Does a solution exist? Is a patch planned?

Do not forget that now in paid version you have a duty of result and thus take care of your customers.

@luke: I'm counting on your answer ...

There were a lot of users that took part in the Beta process and it was long.

There is no way to ever account for every option a user may have set on their system that could change the results of a future scan like what is needed in 4.0. Everyone it seems tends to store their data differently as well often ignoring the guidelines provided in the wiki as well.  This makes the possibility of experiencing trouble higher as well. The more someone deviates from the wiki guidelines, the less likely a beta tester will have tested a similar setup.

Note: I'm not saying you have done anything wrong or are doing things wrong in any way.  I'm just saying it's very difficult to test every possibility up front by the devs or beta testers since every person's system can potentially be a little different.  With the amount of total users using Emby, it's inevitable that some people will have an issue.

The beta program is OPEN to all to participate in (and the forums for the beta are open for everyone as well) so that you KNOW any bugs that would affect your particular system are addressed during the beta vs after the fact as a point release (since the issue isn't known).

Personally I'd never install a major upgrade of anything over my existing system without doing a test first in a VM or other computer when I have a lot of time and data invested in it.  Nor would I ever allow said upgrade to take place without making sure I have everything completely backed up just in case.  That to me is just computers 101.

I realize, none of that of course helps your present situation one bit. But maybe in the future, if there is another big release that changes things like this one more people will get involved in testing at least at the end to help flush out potential problems and give feedback!  We all help each other by testing the software in a controlled environment.

Luke has already commented in a few other places he has identified a couple of things that affect the upgrade and will help some users, hopefully you are one of them.  If not just keep posting needed information to help diagnose where the problem lies!

OKAY.

I'll be shorter than you (sorry). I am a broadcasting and SVOD professional. And I start to know your software.

Thank you for answering the following question:

Why the display of images of actors and teams no longer points to the chosen folder as on older versions of the server.

Ex: D: \ movie_base \ IBN

Thank you for your reply.
