bennynas 0 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Hi, I just noticed that on my Emby Server hardware transcoding is off (I remeber it was on, probably last update?). When I try to select VA API it asks me to fill the "VA API device" field, I don't remember I filed it the first time I tried to use VAAPI, probably it was autocompleted, but now it's empty and I really don't know what to insert. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks!
bennynas 0 Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 Hi, what version of Emby Server? Hi Luke, it's 3.5.3.0
bennynas 0 Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 I'm sorry Luke, I should've been more specific in my first post: model is TS-253A
Luke 42077 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Ok, well it should be populated with a default. I'm not sure what happened there. But please try: /dev/dri/renderD128 Thanks.
bennynas 0 Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Thank you Luke, I remember that field was populated, I don't know what's happened. Your suggestion works, but I notice high CPU usage when transcoding, something I didn't experienced before. What could it be?
Luke 42077 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 The current 3.5.3 release supports VAAPI encoding only, not decoding. And even then, the command lines are not well optimized for VAAPI. The upcoming 3.6 will have dramatically improved support for hardware acceleration: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/64534-36058-hardware-acceleration-settings/ Thanks.
bennynas 0 Posted December 26, 2018 Author Posted December 26, 2018 Thanks Luke, I'll wait for next release then Enjoy your holidays!
