embytestit 1 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Hi, I set up a test account for my fresh installation of emby server. How can I restrict the test user´s options for selecting video play qualitiy? For example it should not be possible to select a higher quality than 1080p - 5 Mps?Playing my test video uploaded to my fresh emby server installation with for example 1080p - 30Mps results in drop outs. So it would be better not to provide the users such play options like 1080p - 30Mps. Thanks and best regards embytestit
Happy2Play 9782 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Have you looked at the "Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps):" either globally or per user? Dashboard-Playback-Streaming Dashboard0Users-select each user
embytestit 1 Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 Thanks for your reply! But unfortunately those settings only result in a DEFAULT value for the video quality! If you click on that value in the video quality settings a window with a list of lots of quality settings - i. e. 1080p - 60 Mbps opens and the user can activate that value. Afterwards the video is not played correctly anymore (stops all xy seconds). Best regardsembytestit
Luke 42080 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 No, what he's saying will be a max value, and no user will be able to go beyond that value. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
embytestit 1 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) Sorry, but at least in my current latest stable release Version 3.3.1.0 for FreeBSD 10.4 the problem is exactly as I described it.It does not matter if you limit it by Dashboard-Playback-Streaming or Dashboard0Users-select each user.In each case the user is able to click on the quality settings value and a list of further values up to 1080 - 60 Mps appears from which you can select. Or do you mean that a selected value from that list is not considered anymore? If this is the case it would be very confusing. One never should offer options that are not considered even if they are enabled. Best regards embytestit P.S.: Checked it with current 3.5.2.0: Same result! Edited September 17, 2018 by embytestit
Luke 42080 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Ok. I would suggest switching to the official Emby FreeBSD package: https://emby.media/freebsd-server.html Thanks.
embytestit 1 Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Hi, what do you think I installed? An unofficial FreeBSD Package? Of course I installed it like described at ttps://emby.media/freebsd-server.html A few minutes ago I installed the latest FreeBSD emby-server version 3.5.2.0 (Thanks to woodsb02). I will check now if the restriction problem still occurs. Thanks and best regards embytestit
embytestit 1 Posted October 14, 2018 Author Posted October 14, 2018 Hi, are there any news concerning my post? Best regards embytestit
Happy2Play 9782 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Hi, are there any news concerning my post? Best regards embytestit Are you just looking a the option values that are displayed? As I have a 3mb limit set and it doesn't matter what you see in the client quality options they will never get anything higher then 3mb. User can only truly change the quality lower than 3mb even though all the options are visible.
