Joe001 1 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Hi there I'm about to upgrade from 3.2.60 to the newest version. Previously i updated via apt-get upgrade, but now I see the the newest version available is only 3.3.1.0. If I download the package manually from your site and install with dpkg -i emby-server-deb_3.5.2.0_amd64.deb, will I have a problem with the legacy folder? I'm asking because I don't want to run into trouble.. thank you
doonze 30 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 The distro version, and the standalone version, do use slightly different pathing.Or did, I know @@Luke was looking into it. Don't know if they fixed the data path issues. I'll link my post about it below, but I didn't have an issue moving from the apt repo to the stand alone. Didn't lose a thing, but for some reason when I moved back to the apt repo I lost all settings and it acted like a brand new install. My suggestion is to make sure you install the backup plugin, and make sure you get a good backup before doing anything! That way you can restore with a few clicks if anything goes wrong!! If you like the auto-updating function of apt, but want the latest standalone version (that's my suggestion, it's more up to date and the main focus of development, and is self contained) There's an app for that. Ok, a python script I wrote, but you get the idea. I'll link that too.... Joe001 1 Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 (edited) It didn't work. after the update the installation wizard starts. I have some backups made with the backup plugin. but if I select the backup the wheel keeps spinning on the page where I have to select what to restore.. Edited August 14, 2018 by Joe001
Luke 42077 Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 What exactly didn't work? it sounds like emby server installed just fine, and the you had an issue with the backup plugin. is that correct?
Joe001 1 Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 Yes right. I updated and he didn't load my settings. It startet like new with the setup wizard. Now I'm trying to restore from a backup with the backup plugin, I select the backup I want to restore from and then it keeps spinning at this screen:
Joe001 1 Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 it worked on chrome!! previously I tried on opera and safari. after reading here on some other topics some suggested trying it in chrome. nor he is restoring and scanning the media library.
Joe001 1 Posted August 16, 2018 Author Posted August 16, 2018 So my question now is: which folder is now obsolete? emby or emby-server? I would like to delete the old one.
