I have been using WMC for tv and DVR for years and had very few problems.  I use the HDHomerun dual.  My Win7 computer has stopped working so I have tried to get this to work the same with Windows10 and Emby Premier.  My goal is to use this the same as I had with WMC using the guide and DVR.

I have tried getting this to work with a couple of 1 month subscriptions and so far nothing.  I can watch TV on HDHomerun platform but nothing is coming up when I open Emby live TV.  Is there any how-to for setting this up?  I want to get Live TV to work before I worry too much about how to do the guide.  I may just end up buying the guide as otherwise it doesn't seem so simple and I have limited time for this.  I have thought about trying Plex or HDhomerun PVR also if this doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated.  I do not want to go back to cable if I can avoid it.

Hi

Should be easy.

Susbscribe to Schedules Direct

Install Emby

Configure Live TV with HDHomerun Details

Configure Live TV With Guide Details

Let it refresh Guide data

Watch TV.

Make sure you have installed the HDhomerun software on the PC and have tuned the unit and are running recent firmware as well.

What model HD Homerun do you have?

It's the old Dual tuner.  I uninstalled all of the Emby and HDHomerun software.  Then I just installed the Emby, and not yet HDHomnerun,  and I have been able to get the TV to show up, so a small win.  I haven't installed Theater so I haven't got the guide to work yet.  I will restart and try to install theater next.

Do I need to install HDHomerun setup only?

Can you be more specific on which tuner you have? Old dual tuner - is it one one the original White dual tuner models? or the HDHR-3?

If it is this may help:

You definitely need to install the HDHR setup software. Set the BDA Compatibility mode to Default and do a channel scan.

Yea that's why we're asking which model, because for the older ones you'll need the hd homerun software. Thanks.

It's called SiliconDust HDHomeRun DUAL High Definition Digital TV Tuner HDHR4-US.  I got it all to work yesterday!  It seemed to work fine before I installed the HD homerun software, and also after.  Guide was working and recording shows, we watched last night.

I have left for work and the reports that I am getting today is that it is not working.  I have tried from my iphone and it says can't reach the server so I tried to wake it.  Does someone just need to open Emby and pick the server once the program starts?

It is difficult to diagnose without you there or a log.

There is a setting to run the server at startup. If the machine was rebooted and that was not selected that could cause the issue. The server does occasionally stop and that of course would make it unreachable.

Is it possible that the external and/or internal IP address changed?

Selecting Emby Server from the Emby folder in the Start Menu will start the server.

FYI: (unrelated to your question(s)

Channel management is limited to the options available on the tuner channel line up page:

x.x.x.x/lineup.html

So either unstarred, starred or disabled

I started the server from the folder in the start menu.  I checked the settings to make sure the server starts at startup.  I still cannot connect to it from my iphone, Roku or another computer.  Are there any other settings to allow to use Emby remotely?

Hi, are you able to access the server web interface from the server machine?

No I have not tried that.  I always go in using the Emby Theater icon.  I will be home later today and will try to get in through chrome.

Thanks, please let us know how you get on.

I signed on in Chrome on the computer with the server and it worked fine on the web browser.  emby.media.

I still cannot connect from other devices off the server network.  It's set for server to come on at startup.  I tried the port forwarding but that didn't help.  Is there anything else that would cause remote to not work?

Hi ,are you able to access from other devices while inside your network?

Hi

The port forwarding and firewalling setup is critical.  If it is not setup correctly then access from outside your LAN just will not work properly.

You need to review this in detail and run online port scanners to check the port is actually open on your router.

It's possible that my port forwarding isn't set up right.  Here is a snapshot of it.

You're mapping 8920 to 8096 or am I reading that wrong?

maegibbons

Yes

Break up that line in to two.

One for 8096 and the other for 8920

I tried with 2 lines and it didn't change anything so something is still wrong.  Here is what it looks like.
