christian.asd 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 Try refreshing the movie or series that the actor belongs to, then go back and click on the actor again. The person needs to have a Tmdb Id in order for us to get metadata. This Id is fetched when the metadata of the media is fetched. Thanks again for your fast reply, Luke!! I already did what you mentioned several times ("refresh all metadata" and so on). Somehow the TMDB ID doesn't get written into my local actor metadata. Again: Only for TV-Shows, Movie actor metadata are all there. So I further investigated: If I refresh all metadata, I can see requests like this in the debug log: 2018-06-15 16:45:19.360 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/4556?api_key=<KEY>&append_to_response=credits,images,keywords,external_ids,videos,content_ratings&language=en&include_image_language=en,null So I took the link and put it into a browser. This leads me to a page with lots of metadata. Everything is there including the whole cast and all the corresponding TMDB IDs. But somehow these IDs are not getting forwarded into my local tv show actor metadata. When I click on a TV-show actor I don't see any metadata. Also when I further click "Edit metadata" there is nothing except Path, Title and Date added (Birth and Death Dates are TT.MM.YYYY). Summary: All metadata are there except tv show actor metadata. Maybe there is a problem on my side but i can't find anything.. :/
Luke 42077 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Make sure you have enabled MovieDb for series metadata, then try again.
christian.asd 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 Make sure you have enabled MovieDb for series metadata, then try again. Already there. I feel like I have tried everything. :/
Luke 42077 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Try clicking on a person you haven't clicked on before.
christian.asd 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) Try clicking on a person you haven't clicked on before. Also no luck. Edit: All the pictures of the tv show actors are also there. So the server has to know about the ids. And as i said it is getting the data from tmdb correctly. So why aren't they (the ids) written to the actors metadata. I have the feeling, that this is the missing point. if i put the ID into the actors metadata manually I immediately get all metadata.. Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I haven't tested this again recently but the issue is/was IF a actor image already existed, no metadata was downloaded. So the only way to get metadata is to manually refresh then actor.@@christian.asdAre you saying you have new media that is being scanned into your library that has a actor that is not already in your library and it didn't/doesn't pull the metadata when open that actor images? If so then you will need to post a log showing this process.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Server log? Okay just updated to .16 and looked at some actors from Goliath and I had Image for Ever Carradine and no metadata, forced manual refresh. But I still believe it is my theory of if you have existing image without metadata you are forced to manual refresh. I will test move later with a test system without any existing metadata/images. embyserver.txt
christian.asd 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) @@christian.asd Are you saying you have new media that is being scanned into your library that has a actor that is not already in your library and it didn't/doesn't pull the metadata when open that actor images? If so then you will need to post a log showing this process. With "open that actor image" you mean simple open the actors page by clicking the image shown on a specific tv-show main page, right? If so, yes, that's the exact behavior. But this only goes for tv-shows. Actor metadata of movie actors are all there. What exactly do you mean with "forced manual refresh"? Is it "Refresh metadata" -> "Refresh Mode: Replace all metadata"? Edited June 16, 2018 by christian.asd
christian.asd 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) So I made a complete new test run. What I've done: Set my testing-VM (Ubuntu Server 16.04) back to a "no emby installed" state Deleted all non media files from my testing tv-show (nfo files and so on) Double checked that there is no emby stuff left under /var/lib/emby as well as /opt/emby Installed Emby 3.4.1.15 beta Skipped "Add Media Library" during "First Start Process" Switched debug logging on Shutdown Server and mount a media data folder to this VM (had forgotten it) Start Server and add a tv-show library (with just one series) TMDB metadata provider is activated and on top. All other metadata providers are activated too Wait for the scan process to finish.... Click on an actor: Nope, picture is there but no metadata Log attached. embyserver.txt Edited June 16, 2018 by christian.asd 2
Luke 42077 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 what actor did you click on? and at about what time?
christian.asd 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 what actor did you click on? and at about what time? It's in the log, starting at 04:17:59.654
christian.asd 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 As you can see here, the actors correct image is in the background but no IDs were written to the metadata. This goes for all tv-show actors.
christian.asd 2 Posted July 17, 2018 Author Posted July 17, 2018 Just installed 3.5.0.0 and it seems to work now. Many thanks!!! Keep up the good work!
christian.asd 2 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 BTW: Your download links at https://emby.media/linux-server.html are wrong. At least for Ubuntu X64 the link is https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases/download/3.2.50.0/emby-server-rpm_3.2.50.0_x86_64.rpm but should be https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/3.5.0.0/emby-server-deb_3.5.0.0_amd64.deb

So perhaps check your internet connection and then try again.
