nobody01 89 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 So... I’m trying to understand difference betweeen Emby transcode and remux... I was playing a 4K movie and my /dev/shm and memory filled up as using /dev/shm for transcoding temp. Not sure why it was holding onto parts that had been watched already or even why it’s trancoding as app showed remux directplay for video and directplay for audio.
mastrmind11 722 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 A container swap, which is likely what was happening, still requires a place to put the new remuxed file(s) while the media is being played. Though without a transcode log, I am only speculating.
Guest asrequested Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 This might help. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/48799-direct-play-vs-direct-streaming-vs-transcoding/
