Try deleting the folder and rebooting the machine.

I've deleted every file relating to emby and restarted, no luck

Oh my bad. I thought it was installation error. It's a download error. Looks like it's having an issue connecting to GitHub, possibly.

Are windows updates up to date?

Hi,

I have the same exact error on a brand new build server 2012 fully updated virtual machine.

Also having the same issue.

I am on windows 10 (version 1709, build 16299.248), and it is currently up to date. Emby server is on version 3.2.36.0.

Trying to update from the dashboard fails (the app update log says it's because it can't extract the downloaded zip file). I read another post that indicated that updating from 3.2.36.0 was problematic, and that the solution was to run the installer from the website. So I downloaded the latest release from the website, but running the setup.exe gives the same error as the OP (error downloading package...).

Things i've tried:

-disabling anti-virus and windows firewall

-clearing the clickonce cache with the following code "rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache". This resulted in an additional prompt when running the installer about whether I wanted to run or cancel, I chose to run, it prompted for UAC elevation (because I am a standard user), then it still fails with the same error.

-adding clickonce trust prompt keys to the registry, this didn't seem to do anything.

-running as administrator

-restarting windows

-logging into a vpn connection. I saw another post from a few years back, where someone indicated that their IP had been blocked from github or some such for excessive connections, and that switching to mobile helped? I was basically trying anything at this point.

Not sure if it matters but I have chrome setup as my default browser. I saw this post that mentioned IE being necessary for something. I wasn't sure what was happening there, but luke had mentioned in that thread that it was an unnecessary work around and the installer should take care of it.

We're looking into it, thanks guys.

This is reproducible, just running the installer from download page.

Manual updating with portable works without issue.

We're pushing updates to our installers to adjust to github api changes. Please try again in one hour. Thanks guys.

Hi

Would this problem also affect users trying to update to the latest beta?  I am trying to update emby from 3.2.70.17 to .18 and I am receiving the same error message.  Just tried two minutes ago and I cant run the installer.

I had no issue running beta installer from download page (Windows).

Hi Happy

I have just tried right now to download the installer from Emby homepage and ran it.  Getting error message as the same as screenshot on this post - error downloading package

Make sure to go back to the download page and click the link again rather than running the previous setup exe that you downloaded before.

Hi Luke

Tried again just now and it seems to be working.  I deleted my internet history and downloaded again and installer is working.

Yes deleting the original setup executable and downloading the new one fixed things for me, thank you
