andlo 2 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hi I have an IPTV provider who also provides lots of VOD content. But it is deliveres in an m3u8 file. Great for VLC or other players, but getting the videos into Emby I cant figure out. Well i were thinking of extracting each streaming url from the m3u8 file and saving it to a .strm file whith name from m3u8 tag into directory whith same name. That would get emb to show the movie. but that is a lot of work to do manualy. So I were thinking maybe someone had an better idea or had a script that could do the work.... Example m3u8 file #EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="" tvg-name="A Clockwork Orange (1971) [Multi-Subs]" tvg-logo="http://clientportal.link:8080/images/0066921.jpg"group-title="VOD: IMDB$ http://clientportal.link:8080/movie/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX/17944.mkv#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="" tvg-name="A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) [Multi-Subs]" tvg-logo="http://clientportal.link:8080/images/0044081.jpg"group-title="VOD$ http://clientportal.link:8080/movie/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX/17945.mkv#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="" tvg-name="12 Angry Men (1957) [Multi-Subs]" tvg-logo="http://clientportal.link:8080/images/0050083.jpg"group-title="VOD: IMDB Top 2$ http://clientportal.link:8080/movie/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX/17946.mkv#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="" tvg-name="Bonnie And Clyde (1967) [Multi-Subs]" tvg-logo="http://clientportal.link:8080/images/0061418.jpg"group-title="VOD: IMDB T$ http://clientportal.link:8080/movie/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX/17947.mkv example .strmfile /A Clockwork Orange (1971) [Multi-Subs]/A Clockwork Orange (1971) [Multi-Subs].strm http://clientportal.link:8080/movie/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX/17944.mkv
Luke 42077 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 strm is one approach, another is the iptv plugin. i'd probably go with strm right now since you can probably write a script to convert the m3u8 to strm. 1
Senna 368 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 As long you are a single user that uses Emby, you can go for the strm route. But if you have a multi user Emby household, there is no way you can control the number of simultaneous connections to your IPTV provider by using strm files, which could result in a blocked IPTV account if more users are accessing your strm based movies simultaneously, than your subscription allows. 1

Yah I did try IPTV, but didnt find it uasable for this purpurse, as you have to add each video one by one. And whit lots of VOD streams it seems not to be the way.

Ohh that I didnt think of that....But I got enough connections so I dont think Ill get that problem. but good point.
andlo 2 Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 My problem is that I cant make a script that do what I need...I can read code and change and maybe add some, but I am not a programmer. So if someone just had som little input - a example of reading the file line b line, grabbing test from last comma and writing a file, I think I could do it. Just need something to start whith.
Luke 42077 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Ok. Strm is probably your best option if it could be automated.
andlo 2 Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 Well I did gp for the .strm files, and after reading most of the internet i did some powershelling It isnt nice but it did the trick
Senna 368 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) A dedicated tool for exporting VOD content from m3u to strm files, is just out of beta and into translation right now and will be released to international public soon. With this tool I transferred my complete IPTV VOD library into an Emby library, where the tool also cleans up movie names, so scraper gets correct name for scraping data. More info about this tool, when the translation is done ! Edited January 25, 2018 by Senna 2

baneb5 0 Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Partly I gave the concept and the idea to a developer I know well and he built the tool ! A sneak peak: Hi, is this tool available? I am willing to pay for something like this..
Senna 368 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Hi, is this tool available? I am willing to pay for something like this.. Due to other important projects of the developer of this tool, the translation of it got delayed. Expect more news to come within a couple of weeks, because I just got a message from him, that translation is on his ToDo list for the coming weeks. So when that is done, international users can finally export their iptv VOD to strm (from m3u), so those strm files can be added to an Emby library, so you can stream iptv VOD directly from Emby.
Senna 368 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) Sneak peak of work in PROGRESS of a PERFECT Emby COMPANION tool..... and yes, the tool has evolved : UPDATE: Until further notice, this tool is end of life. https://torrentfreak...lice-operation/ Edited December 8, 2019 by Senna 2
ERD 24 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I am working on a test version right now thought it might come in handy to register here myself too - to provide more information if anyone has questions, and also if anyone is interested in the tool after testing. The test version will have a 5 strm export limit, and downloading is preserved for registered users (who bought a license). I will create a strm tool which supports local m3u file loading, so vader streams can be used - but that tool will be availible when i finished a stable and testable version of this tool. I will try to get a testversion online this week - people who are interested in buying a license can contact me. 2
Spaceboy 2573 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Definitely interested in a licence once tested 1
Senna 368 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Information about this tool will be posted in this forum section very very soon :https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/71-tools-and-utilities/
gtmnyc 12 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I think I have an earlier version in Dutch (trial version) is this the same tool
