Hi there

I am wondering how do i get to use the latest build of madvr in emby theater as currently its using an older version that

what is posted on the madvr website.

Also lavfilters seems to be older but i am unsure on how i get to use a newer build?

Thanks in advance and keep up all the good work on Emby as i have a few different clients ( samsung tv , roku , android and windows) running now on various platforms and i am very happy with the results apart from the odd glitch on the windows version using madvr

regards

Dave

Hi, as a curious question, what makes you prefer the madvr player?

What about using an external player such as mpchc with madvr? Then you can choose the v version that you want.

I never have gotten MPC-HC perfectly working in harmony with Theater since the rewrite of Theater.

I love the quality and the easy of use of madvr.

It’s also actively being developed and updated.

It’s only for Emby Theater in combo with madvr I use a HTPC.

i thought by the fact that you took madvr away a few months ago and then (due to public demand) you reintroduced it.

I have tried madvr vs the emby inbuilt player and PQ is no where near as good as Madvr.

One of my main reasons is the abliity to calibrate a projecter with the  corrrect colour settings.

At least give us the option to download a new version of madvr and copy into a folder somewhere like other players allow. Jriver being one of them.

I love emby and for me it works really well on all my clients but for a proper cinema room experience madvr is best option (at the moment)

What problem did you have using Emby Theater with mpc-hc and madvr?

I’ve never had it working seamless with Theater.

Not starting fullscreen, Theater didn’t come to top when stopping a movie etc.

I gave it up since I am more than happy with Theater and madvr support as it is now.

Atm ... PERFECT!!

I am using v2.9.6 now and it’s working great with madvr.

I tried the internal mpv player when madvr wasn’t available then bit I liked madvr better.

I know much work and developement is going into mpv but I’m glad you opted to pit madvr back in.

Yea unfortunately we're faced with a difficult situation where we have an opportunity to make the mpv player better by eliminating a lot of window related hacks, but it comes at a price of breaking the madvr player. And it's not something we can easily choose between at runtime. So that's why I asked you to give the testing version a quick check. Thanks.

Unfortunately that's the reality of the situation. Why not try the testing version with mpchc as an external player? This will allow you to use the latest madvr, lav filters, etc.

I'm also one of the fan's of madvr being integrated directly into the program and not via mpc-hc. This gives a better user experience with the ui. I like the pq of madvr and currently the mpv doesn't support hdr signal to the tv, like madvr does. SO there is many case were mpv simply isn't in the same league as madvr.

I undestand that madvr gives some technical issues/challenges, but you also have to remember what it gives that mpv doesn't and what the community wants to get their support.

I'm currently happy with the integration and can live with it. I have two issues that would be corrected in the perfect world and that would be next/previous chapter would work and that the system would close madvr view when pushing stop. This is to reset the refresh rate back.

I will always monitor the progress of mpv, but with my experience from since you introduced it and till now, I don't think mpv implementation will ever mute the madvr fan's. I think the best approach forward is to accept both of them and make an architecture that support both.

I like mpv.  Before I even knew that it was a thing, I had already noticed a step up in PQ on emby.  However, having only just worked out how to play HDR, my observation is that mpv does a stella job handling HDR, but it doesn't compare with what the latest version of madvr can do when passing through HDR.

Would it be a good compromise to have an option in the external player for HDR only?  Even if it means us having to place "HDR10, HDR, or hdr " in the file name of each piece of media a la Kodi? I would certainly be happy with that.

Yes that kind of external player option is possible.
