gjviii 48 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 In regards to the emails that Emby sends out whenever there are updates (todays subject line Emby Server 3.2.33 Released), are they poorly formatted ? I open them on multiple platforms and wherever i open them they look, poor. No spacing, one long run on paragraph, ton of " ". I have to be missing something simple, any ideas on what i need to change to actually make the announcements readable? 1
CBers 7451 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Nothing, it's the way the emails are generated.
CBers 7451 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 This is the latest email that the Emby server sent out: As you can see, the formatting is offl. @@Luke / @@ebr - Can someone look into this please, as it's not very good for new users to receive, especially those coming from P**x. Thanks.
Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 We're not sending these emails out. did you subscribe to that part of the forum for notifications?
CBers 7451 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 We're not sending these emails out. did you subscribe to that part of the forum for notifications? Well how are they sent out then ?? It's obviously something you've implemented in Emby, or it's the forum software, in which case it needs sorting from that end. Either way, it needs fixing.
Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Because you may have used the forum feature to subscribe to be notified.
dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) I guess Emby does not manage or maintain its own forum then???? Typical response "we did not send the email" or "Its not our problem, because YOU used a feature that we offer on our forum" Edited October 12, 2017 by dcook 1
CBers 7451 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Because you may have used the forum feature to subscribe to be notified. And ?? Just because I may have subscribed, which I don't think I have done and it seems you can't unsubscribe anyway, but it's being sent out as a direct result of an Emby blog entry. In this case, it was this blog entry: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-402-emby-for-samsung-smart-tvs-now-available-in-the-uk/
Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 What i"m saying is you have to manually opt into these announcement emails, and the number of people doing that is very small, so it is unlikely that we will allocate time towards this in the short term future.

OK, so I'll unsubscribe. So, can you tell me where I do that please, as there are no options anywhere that I've seen.
Luke 42080 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I would think it's in your forum profile settings.
CBers 7451 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I would think it's in your forum profile settings. Can you screenshot it from your settings page please, as I can't find it.
ebr 16185 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 User drop down -> Settings -> Notification Settings -> Blogs I'm guessing that's it. I do not have any notifications enabled and don't receive these emails.
dcook 299 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) @@Luke I get the impression you have never worked at a Help Desk or in the service industry before, most of the time your answers are very combative and pointing blame back at the user. Have you not heard the expression the customer is always right? The OP is a Emby user and member of your Forum, who raised a legitimate issue, where your 1st response was "We're not sending these emails out" when that is clearly false as the emails are very clearly Emby announcement emails, which you can see that based on the content. But still you took the time to tell him that "We're not sending these emails out" Then you imply its the user fault again because he used a feature on YOUR forum to receive the notifications And lastly you state we don't care about the users who use this feature (that you offer!) so we can't allocate time to fix the issue. I am sure you are an excellent developer, but perhaps you should stick to programming and hire someone to respond to user questions on the forum. Edited October 12, 2017 by dcook 2
CBers 7451 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 User drop down -> Settings -> Notification Settings -> Blogs I'm guessing that's it. I do not have any notifications enabled and don't receive these emails. I have BLOGS ticked, but only for notifications, not email, so why am I receiving an email ?? In any case, this still doesn't fix the email formatting issue.
Abobader 3464 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Good day, Please review your notifications settings, then click save, regarding blog notification, only the one you follow that will give you notification. and no email for that for the default settings. My best

econ 74 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I’m pretty sure these are being sent out via the email notifications plugin, not the forum. Either way, it would give Emby a little better shine if they were readable.
