Completed Share Playlists with other Users/Guests

One feature I've wanted on Plex for quite a long time is the ability to share a playlist with other Users or Guests and have it appear in their media players. 

 

Usage examples of this would curated lists of Music, Movies, etc. 

 

"Workout Playlist"

"List of Movies I think you might like"

"Top Simpsons Episodes"

 

..etc.

 

If Playlist Sharing could have Parental Controls, we could block access using tags, allowing us to create Playlists for specific people.

I agree, this would be very valuable! Also, the possibility of sharing individual music/video clips would be really cool.

This is definitely a feature we should have in Emby! And should be made easy to do, I have tried to do it by editing the XML file but doesn't work properly, even when I set canedit permission to false users are still able to change the playlists. Can this please be looked into.

This feature request is for sharing playlists among users.  Sounds like you are asking for something else.

@@ebr no it's the same thing I'm talking about, to share the playlist with other users by editing the playlist file and adding the userid.

I have created playlists and edited the playlist xml file and added my users and that's working but even though I set canedit permissions to false my users can still change and even delete the playlists. Appreciate any help you can give me.

Are playlists supposed to be public/shared by default?

 

Up until recently, none of my other users utilized playlists. But now that sometime else is, I can see all his playlists and he can see all mine. Playlists in general aren't visible to users until they create their first one, but after that my system is showing all playlists to these users.

 

Furthermore, once playlists are visible, it let's any user edit/add/remove anything from any playlist.

 

I don't know if this is a recent change, since no one else ever used playlists on my system until now.

 

Edit: just found this thread describing an identical but from back in January. I guess this one isn't resolved yet.

They are per user however it is on our to do list to revisit this.
