Offline Sync/Download - How does it work?

The wiki explains how to get this going on the front end in the apps (although it references "Make Available Offline" while the android mobile app references "Download" which is a bit confusing) but how does it work on the back end?  I click Download on a movie with a quality setting of high and what happens on the server side?  Does it start converting right away?  Does it only convert based on the scheduled task job that is configured?

I just attempted a test of this and while the app shows the movie is "Downloading", on the server side it just shows the job as Transfering: 0% and no temp files are actually created in configured temp directory for this.

So could someone explain the server behavior I should be seeing for this?

Downloading on Android is working for me in the latest beta app for the first time. Before I had the same issue as you report. If you are on the stable release, these changes may not be in there yet.

Yes I'm on stable.  So, this feature is not fully implemented yet?

If you switch to the beta version of the app then it will likely work.

How stable are Emby betas?  I have 20+ shared users and would rather not sacrifice stability and introduce bugs if I can avoid it.

I am talking about the Android beta app. You can try this on a single device without affecting others.

2.9.61 is the latest release of the app and it is available on both the stable and beta channels.

That's the version I'm running. @@Luke can you comment on the behavior I'm seeing?
