Scott310 137 Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 @@CBers I think you may have inadvertently found the issue. I had to done mental check and try and remember which movies were causing me the issue. I went back and checked all if them. They were all DTS audio. AAC and AC3 files play to the end without issue. This error to my knowledge is only happening with DTS files. My system is remuxing the DTS because Xbox one still uses optical audio. Now at the new house I was watching with the Xbox one and a bose cinemate sound bar and it was also remuxing the DTS. I know this cause the dashboard said direct streaming but it still shows the red transcoding line. My new main theater system will have HDMI audio and I'm willing to bet that this issue won't happen. Bit it seems it only happens when the server is remuxing DTS FOR the xbox. 1
Scott310 137 Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 I tried the same movie on the emby UWP app for PC. It played all the way through with no problems. I will try ember on pc next. The issue seems to be only with xbox
Scott310 137 Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 Ok so I downloaded Ember UWP for PC and tried to play the same movie. For some reason Ember is crashing every time I try to start a movie. I don't know if that is related though. I have tried several movies now in both emby and Ember and I can now say that I am 100%certain it only happens with movies that are encoded in DTS. This is what I am seeing in Ember. (don't mind my son banging his toy in the background lol) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8PF3WWw7dsbMURkNnVPVzZxY1U It will just hang like that forever until you back out and hit resume. And this is the same movie in Emby. The only difference is emby will completely freeze up and I have to kill the program. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8PF3WWw7dsbQ2NFY2tyTnlHQkU I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs on the xbox but that made no change at all. I'll give you any log or run any test you need. I just really want this to be working again. I also really hope that I don't have to re-encode all my DTS movies.
CBers 7450 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I also really hope that I don't have to re-encode all my DTS movies. You can use convert everything in one go with Popcorn MKV Audio Converter. I use it to convert videos with only DTS tracks to DD, mark as default, but retain the DTS track also.
Scott310 137 Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 do you think a factory reset to the xbox one would have any effect? I'm willing to try anything to get this working again....
Scott310 137 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 So have we given up on me? Can I provide logs, do testing, anything to help you guys figure out why this is happening? This all started probably around the time of the creators update and it seemed like a lot of people were having issues. Although it seems it has been cleared up for a lot of people but I am still experiencing this. It only happens with movies that are DTS.
Scott310 137 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Seems like a lot of what I am experiencing is being talked about in this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46346-xbox-one-creators-update-issues/
CBers 7450 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Seems like a lot of what I am experiencing is being talked about in this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46346-xbox-one-creators-update-issues/ That thread is a whole big can of worms, which still isn't fixed. Did you try factory resetting your Xbox One? Which model do you have?
Scott310 137 Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 I haven't done a factory reset yet. I did however re-encode a movie that was in DTS to AC3. When the movie was in DTS it would freeze up at the 2 minute mark. Now with the movie in AC3 it stuttered ever so slightly at the 2 minute mark and and then played through to the end without issue. This confirming once again that it is definitely a DTS remuxing issue. The funny this is if I DLNA the same movie to the Xbox it plays just fine. Its only when playing it through either program that I experience these issues.
Scott310 137 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 I did a factory reset to the Xbox. No change. I have played several movies in AAC and AC3 that direct play and play through to the end without issue. The moment I try to pay a DTS file I run into issues. I can then as a work around Play the DTS file through DLNA to the Xbox and it plays perfectly. I only have issues when trying to play DTS files through either Emby or Ember when it is remuxing the audio.
Scott310 137 Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 Hey Guys, I hate to be a pest about this but it is still happening and I have tried everything. Anytime the audio is being remuxed (especially DTS) the Xbox One App freezes during playback. This also happens on Ember. If the file plays directly for instance with AAC and AC3 files it plays through fine without issue. I never heard anything more from my previous post below. I guess I am just asking if I can expect any more assistance on this or am I just going to have to re-encode all of my DTS files to AC3? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/49061-et-for-xbox-one-still-freezing-at-every-chapter/ I will be happy to do any testing or provide any server or log information you need. Thanks again for looking into this...
Luke 42077 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I have not been able to reproduce but will do more testing today. Thanks.
