Incorrect Next Up

I see the area you are talking about and it is blank. I checked the other Sort Title sections, as per the linked thread, throughout the series and they are blank also. What does this field do? Is it some kind of override I can use to fix this display?

This has been happening to me as well.  I've even tried deleting all of the metadata files and letting the server redo it but still shows wrong next up.  To make it more interesting I needed to reinstall my EMBY server from scratch when a server update corrupted the previous install.  The series that was incorrect before is working right but a different series is now incorrect.

Any ideas?

@@TrishyMouse what exactly has been happening to you? Can you please describe your problem in more detail? Thanks !

For reference I also read the other thread listed above.

At the moment three series have been affected.  The first was Fringe,  we started watching season one, next up was fine until about halfway thru watching season one, then it start saying an episode in season 3 was next,  a few days later an episode in season 4 was next.  I checked things like the sort title but they're all blank.  The other series, Clone Wars had been fine but started also showing seemingly random episodes as next.   Adam-12 was working perfectly fine at the time.  No other episodes were/are marked as watched, only the ones we've watched in sequence are marked.

A few weeks later we ran into a problem where the EMBY server would not start after an update.  After some troubleshooting and my family nagging me I opted to nuke the old install and start a new server install from scratch having totally removed the old install files and checking that the registry was clean.  Install location was and is the default.

Before I started rebuilding with the Fringe next up still fresh in my head I deleted all of the meta data from the Fringe folders.

Once the new install was up and running I let the server grab the metadata for Fringe on its own.  Remembering what episodes we were on I manually (thru an EMBY client) marked the episodes we'd seen as watched.  I was happy to see that after this the Next Up was now working right for Fringe, the next day we watched an Adam-12 episode and now all of a sudden the next up is wrong for Adam-12 when it was working before.

Its probably worth mentioning, that since before EMBY was EMBY I'd been using a program called MetaBrowser to pull down posters and meta data for our movies and TV series.  I had been doing that as the servers meta data sources seemed to have an annoying habit of pulling down the wrong info from time to time.  It had been writing metadata in the folders with the media as XML up until the change with EMBY to NFO.

I suspect the next up problem started around the time EMBY switched to NFO but I could be wrong.

hi @@TrishyMouse, yes, while using metabrowser to populate xml is something that should work, it's also not something that the core emby team is actively testing.

If I go thru my series and delete the metadata files that are stored with the media so only the media is present in the folders is  there a way I can have EMBY Server look at these folders like they are new, perhaps a cache I can clear or something similar?  I'm thinking along this line as Fringe started working after I deleted the metadata files and reinstalled server.

Thank you

A Refresh of the series will replace the deleted metadata.

Thank you for your reply,

It seems like there is something more than just refreshing the series after deleting the old metadata.  While the server does repopulate the metadata after the refresh it still seems to be remembering somewhere as it still shows the wrong next up.
