ToddSexington 1 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Continuing in the rich tradition of kodi not being able to load my music library, I was dismayed to find that the emby kodi addon does not work. It hangs at Comparing boxsets. I can run the emby app fine on its own on the android box in question, but I was hoping that I would find one way to be able to utilize kodi for my music library. Any thoughts on how to get past the hang and unbreak the installation? Hmm, as I write that, I get a file syncing error, do I have to respond to the error in a certain way to make it go away?
Luke 42078 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Hi, welcome. In addition to the above report, can you please attach the information requested in how to report a problem with Emby for Kodi. Thanks !
ToddSexington 1 Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Sorry yeah I should have posted more info. Kodi 17.1 Emby 2.3.48 I did a fresh install, and the database did manage to load after a while. However, now I can't play any files. I'm trying to enable logging in Emby as described in a wiki I found, but I can't seem to find that. I did enable some logging and found tons of these types of errors: T:18446744073032186160 NOTICE: EMBY.musicutils -> getting song ID3 tags for 21:01:14.532 T:18446744073032186160 NOTICE: EMBY.musicutils -> Not supported fileformat or unable to access file: 21:01:14.534 T:18446744073032186160 NOTICE: EMBY.musicutils -> getAdditionalSongTags --> embyid: 963735c35cf577ffbd913eac71338157 - emby_rating: 0 - file_rating: 0 - current rating in kodidb: None 21:01:14.550 T:18446744073032186160 NOTICE: EMBY.objects.music -> ADD song itemid: 963735c35cf577ffbd913eac71338157 - Title: Cold Shoulder 21:01:14.609 T:18446744073032186160 NOTICE: EMBY.musicutils -> File does not exist! I have had a real heck of a time getting my music to play in kodi, so much so that it's kind of baffling that it is supposed to be as good as it is supposed to be. Playing from the android app is no problem, I guess I'll stick to that for now. Edit: I can post the actual log if that will help. Edit 2: I'm getting the Comparing boxsets error again, after the library had all loaded, and even after I disabled update library at startup. I cannot wrap my head around how kodi is supposed to be a good music player. It's been by far the most troublesome client I've ever used. Edited May 16, 2017 by ToddSexington
xnappo 1611 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Please post your full log. For music your path you entered on your server is likely not accessible by the client.
ToddSexington 1 Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 I am just using the emby app on the android box. Kodi has never worked well for my music collection.
Tur0k 148 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) Is Kodi installed on he same system as your Emby server? If not, do you have the Emby for kodi client configured to use local network paths? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited May 18, 2017 by Tur0k
ToddSexington 1 Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 In the same LAN. I'm not sure if I set it to use network paths. I might give it a shot again, but the Emby app is working fine on the android box. I've had no luck at all with porting my music library over to the android box. The UX has been so bad that I just tried other methods. Not sure if it's cause my tags aren't clean enough.
